NiceDoughnut991 Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Is Szeth's "assassin in white" outfit at all inspired by the Assassin's creed video game series?
2 Bookish Ocelot she/her Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 I do not think so. He wears white because it is the Parshendi who hired him. They think that an assassins should wear white so the victim has a fair warning. Hope this helps! 1

First off, Brandon takes inspiration from various video games on a constant basis, making him claim to be deeply influenced by the Final Fantasy series. Furthermore, your ignorance must be of mind-boggling proportions to make you write off an entire art form as "stupid". But that just as an aside. Regarding this particular case, I think Szeth has been around for a long time and the first AC was only released four years before Way of Kings. Szeth was a thing in the first draft in 2002, but was then called Jek and, if I recall correctly, didn't wear white. That said, Brandon has never mentioned AC as an inspiration, which is generally a firm sign that it wasn't an influence, given how open he's always been about his influences (like Ocean's Eleven for Mistborn, Moorcock for Nightblood, Asimov for the Cosmere in general, the list is endless).

I don't see the listeners killing each other off much in the last thousand +years, and I definitely don't see that being the case during desolations.
