Each return could be a horribly traumatic event but perhaps some fused are better then others at dealing with it.

It is unlikely to be random chance that Kaladin's group of Singers was sent on a suicide mission against shard bearers. The Fused need willing volunteers.

Oduim is sparring his more valuable fighters (sane fused) in favor of killing off large numbers of undesirables (people whose loyalty he is unsure of) under the guise of using them to fight humans. The surviving singers will start hating humans, the fused won't have to fight, and potential traitors will be dead 3 birds one stone. 1
