The woman nodded, and pulled a green vial from her belt. She offered it to Csilen.

A red light began to flash on one of the walls. Tom made a motion, and it stopped. But he kept his eyes on the spot where it had appeared.

The serum went straight to the soul, causing indescribable agony for a brief moment as  it burned a symbol deep into Csilen's soul.

The woman spun the key in her hands again. "You ready?"

Samika smiled all of a sudden.

"Your arrogance betrays you, Tom."

Red lights began to flash around the room. Tom blinked once, surprised, then leapt into action. Shimmering gloves appeared on his hands and he began making movements with his fingers and hands. Some of the red lights went out, but many still flashed.

Samika laughed. "Not as secure as you thought you were, are you?"

Tom made only a grunt in reply.

Thought trusted AJ, but they were playing at things neither of them understood. If Tom wanted him to back down, then he probably should. Probably. She stayed silent.

Thought took AJ's hand and looked him in the eyes. She shook her head. "We need to trust Tom," she said. AJ sighed and shot a glare at Tom before sitting down again.

Samika chuckled. "Why hello, Tamika. So nice to hear your lovely voice again."

The key flashed in her hand for a second, and Tom flinched briefly. His face remained impassive.

Emotions churned inside of Thought. Part of her wanted to stand and face Samika. To face her challenger and kill her like every fool before who had dared defy her. But she knew she couldn't do that anymore. She was nothing more than a little girl in a world she didn't understand, her only weapon a staff. The part that understood that wanted to hold onto AJ and shut her eyes and pretend that she wasn't terrified and that AJ would make everything all right.

Death was not in the slightest a pleasant process. Csilen was finding out rebirth wasn’t the best either.

There was a tearing sensation, like Csilen was being stretched to infinity. He lolled back his head and screamed. He felt himself in three different places. Stretched between the realms, but something else pulling on him, not letting go. Csilen could have given up, he could have given in to the agony but he gritted his teeth and he stayed there, he stayed in that pain, that sensation.

Still pain. How long had it been? Not long enough, but it seemed Csilen could never get used to the agony, it enveloped him like a storm and he screamed more.

Csilen laid in that tortured state for far longer than he’d preferred. He’d been here so long, he’d felt this pain for eternity and beyond. Was it ever going to end, would this infestation of pure pain, agony and sorrow ever reach its conclusion or wouldn’t Csilen remain in this screaming hell for the rest off tortured existe-

Csilen was reborn.

More red lights began to flash. Tom still did not react, except to increase the pace of his hand wavings.
