Also we can't take for granted that they have always been functionally immortal or if that is a part of the shattering. From Hoid's letter he states

The use of  "as you are now" makes the immortality sound like a newer development.

Fair enough, but if it is a newer development, it's one that effects all dragons.

Questioner (paraphrased)

Regarding a certain dragon mentioned in Stormlight Archive, and dragons in general in the cosmere: is functional immortality a natural part of a dragon's lifespan?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

The way I have written dragons in the cosmere… ALL dragons are naturally functionally immortal. They can be killed, but they don't age.

I don't think Adonalsium is a God in the traditional sense, in that he is kind, just and loving (blahh) .

We do see that the individual shards that were once Adonalsium have intents that are not all good (Autonomy, Ruin and Odium). This makes me think that Adonalsium was not completely good. It is one reason why I think that there is no need for a second powerful God-like entity, all the conflict that you need to build a good story are right there, in Adonalsium.

I have heard some believe that the "Main God" has his universe, but can exalt one of his creation to deity level, then they are free to go and create their own universe and be that version of reality's "god".

I know Mormons hold a similar belief system and that Brandon Sanderson is a practicing Mormon. So it makes sense to me that Adonalsium is the "god" of this universe but might not be the highest power overall.

Likely Brandon will just focus on Adonalsium and his shattered pieces to explore the process of Mortals being Exalted similar to how his IRL belief system is, which I know I certainly enjoy.

I'm pretty sure his use of the term Endowment is also from Mormonism so its highly unlikely his books aren't influenced by his personal beliefs, but he takes great pains to insure its a world we all can enjoy and have our own philosophies about.

The Shard Endowment and the Temple ordinance called the Endowment aren't really similar.

If you wanted to compare the temple Endowment to anything, imagine a long conversation with Hoid, Frost, Khriss and Vasher that went way over your head. That is the best comparison I can think of.

Per Brandon, none of the Shards are good or evil. Odium and Ruin are no more inherently 'evil' than Honor or Preservation are inherently 'good'.

Does it have to completely go over your head? Because I'd listen to those four talk for hours and hours if I'm allowed to get at least a fraction of what they're saying. xD
