TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 damnation me, the origins of final empire era feruchemists looks far more simple and clear now, HOID. I still don't think that harmony can target and kill Marsh. And moreover what reason he have to do so? If Marsh is planning to overthrow the government and become next TLR what right does it gives harmony to kill him? But he can certainly help wax and empower him to fight Marsh.
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Oh, I agree that he wouldn't. That is definitely not his style, but he is certainly able to if he wished to. Sorry for any miss-understanding. But I really don't think that Marsh would do that ( desire to become the next Lord Ruler ). It goes too much against what Kelsier, his brother, died for. I would say that any argument that Harmony and Marsh would have, which it is hinted by Marsh for the two of them to have IIRC, would be about how they go about protecting the civilization that Kelsier, Vin, Sazed and that lot built. Harmony is very much help those who help themselves. Whereas Marsh would be more hands on in his approach. IMO
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Actually I am still trying to figure out what exactly Kelsier died for.....
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Actually I am still trying to figure out what exactly Kelsier died for..... To remove TLR, and free the Skaa. There is WoB that Kelsier is still floating around in the Cosmere, so i don't think that Marsh would try to establish himself as TLR. Kelsier would be unhappy if he did and have words with him.
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Probably not, since Marsh said that wax is doing Kelsier's work. So I beleive Kelsier is still a mystery. I mean if he just wanted TLR dead and restore freedom to skaa then it was done 300 years ago I do believe that the kidnappings and the set is nothing compared to the real threat because the theme and the story indicates that it is something which is above humans and is so strong that a God is directly helping a human.
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yeah. I mean now Kelsier is just being meddlesome because that's his nature, though according to Word of Brandon if Kelsier and Hoid were in the same room they would fight, if that helps with understanding Kelsier and Hoid's motives. As to who Miles Hundredlifes is talking about it is speculated that it has to do with the southern continent and the people who live their. They were apparently put there by TLR as a 'back up plan'. So perhaps Harmony is helping Wax to prepare him for them? I'm uncertain if their are any other Shards that have influenced Scadrial, though I may be wrong. I personally don't think Brandon would have too great an enemy for a series that wasn't really apart of his original plan. Mistborn was, IIRC. only supposed to be three trilogies long, but now with Wax's books there will be more than nine books.
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I know about 3 trilogies, maybe you are right that this trilogy is just a base for next trilogy. As for Kelsier and HOID I read that kel can't stand hoid but why? Since hoid is probably primordial being as was suggested that he was present at shattering. I believe the reason behind enemity was The Flower, ever wondered how kel's wife knew about the thing that no one else knew about? Making a wild guess that hoid had something to do with it. I read about southern people, they know about metallic powers but they use them in rather mechanized way, would be interested to see a new way of using powers.
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I thought she got that from Sazed? Though that would explain the hostilities because Kelsier would not appreciate having his loved one manipulated.
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yup, besides when Vin gave the picture to sazed the book said it belonged to mare then kel then Vin n now sazed
Pathfinder Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) Ruin controlled marsh directly remember? He would possess him and make him do stuff even to the point of seeing beauty in destruction, vs when not possessed marsh was disgusted. Since marsh still has all the spikes, and sazed is preservation AND ruin he could just as easily take control Edited May 25, 2014 by P4thf1nd3r
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Maybe now I have a answer about why The Set is kidnapping only females who are supposedly allomancers Alloy shows a Trelagist that claims to worship Trell, who believes that Trell created mankind, but makes no comments regarding the Thousand Eyes, Nalt's eye, or even expresses a dislike of daylight. In addition, this character holds the belief that the ruling class should be made up exclusively of TWINBORN.
Pathfinder Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Also there are WoB, that Sazed/Harmony is the one keeping Marsh supplied with the last of the atium which is how Marsh is staying alive. I don't think Sazed/Harmony would "fund" him in this way if they were diametrically opposed. They may have different ways of going about things, but I believe they still "work" together.
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Well I hadn't gone through WoB so didn't knew that. Anyways had anyone thought why vanishers tried to kidnap marasi? Since they were kidnapping people of particular bloodlines, that means they knew she was half sister of steris and not a distant cousin. Since this fact is so well guarded that wax was actually able to find her father and mother(planted) when he researched on kidnapped people. So that makes me think if either one of those 3 (steris, marasi, father) is actually working undercover for The Set?
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 damnation looks like I am talking to myself but still since I am re reading AoL I thought I might ask another question I have. Before the last train robbery the vanishers robbed normal train cars and making replicas wasn't a big deal but since no one knew the breaknaught and it's interior design, I think house tekeil or someone powerful enough from that house is operating with the set. Another reason to support this thought is "tekeil house hadn't reported first robbery". Any thoughts?
Pathfinder Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 So I am still a new guy myself, but a few pointers/things told to me when I started on the forums. First check out this thread for general rules regarding the forums: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6-welcome-to-17th-shard/?p=12693 One of them includes double posting. It doesn't seem like the end of the world, but it is frowned upon. Now regarding what you posted. The theory Wax put forth as to why house Tekeil didn't report the robberies if I recall correctly, was because they didn't want to be shown as weak, and I THINK (been a little while since I have last read it), to conceal what was stolen at first. Wax later deduced what they were moving and missing. I am not saying this disproves that Tekiel may be part of the Set, just was replying to your inquiries. I don't have time to scan the rest of this thread again but I think someone mentioned here or elsewhere a theory that the Set was trying to also bankruptcy Tekiel, so they could then buy all the shares and end up majority holder of the house's business.
TheWarriorPoet he/him Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I don't have time to scan the rest of this thread again but I think someone mentioned here or elsewhere a theory that the Set was trying to also bankruptcy Tekiel, so they could then buy all the shares and end up majority holder of the house's business. I suppose it was me who said that but then when I re read I thought making a replica of super secured breaknaught is not possible without someone from the house is actually giving you inside information. Thanks for pointing out the rules
