(Nale would do it, to bond potential radiants to make them skybreakers, or kill them.) Is it? Does that mean that the type of spren is technically irrelevant? A historian has part of the personality of an edgedancer (remembering those who are lost, or something like that) but could just as easily bond, say, a cyptic or inkspren or honorspren as a cultivationspren. What Nale does is set things up so that it's more likely that a highspren will bond a person that Nale thinks is worthy of becoming a Skybreaker (because by making them a squire, they're in a position where highspren will be more likely to notice them) but there's no way to make the spren form the bond unless they chose to do so. Decision and Honor are too much a part of Surgebinding for you to be able to fake your way into that. Other magics you might be able to do that. Other magics that don't require, like... So it's not something you can cheat your way into, right. But cheating your way into Breath might be easier. Each type of spren is looking for different things in a potential bond partner and the different types of spren have different ways of deciding who to bond. Sometimes you'll get a situation where multiple spren might be attracted to the same person (Ym) but that only works in limited circumstances.
