Got It!

Kaladin and Syl always reminded me of something, but I could never put my finger on what....until this morning!

In a conversation about favorite childhood movies someone mentioned Peter Pan. The moment of realization hit. A guy who can fly with the help of a small flying woman. Don't think this is where Brandon got his inspiration but the concept is now stuck in my head. Kaladin Pan.

Sorcs get their power from 1) some sort of inheritance (dragon lineage, angelic lineage) or 2) a connection to the land (stone sorcs, wild magic sorcs). Since all the KRs are swearing oaths and bonding with Fae powers to get their abilities, I don't know that Sorcerer really applies. The closest might be Dalinar, since he's bonded the Stormfather

Arguably, 2 applies to Lightweavers. Remember what Cryptics are: expressions of the fundamental underlying mathematics of Roshar and the wider cosmere.

It gets a little hazy there but as you're still making a pact with a fae creature I'd still call it Warlock. Same as if the pact was made with the spirit of a forest or river or somesuch. But if I had a player who really just wanted to play a Sorc in this sort of setting I'd probably work it out, since its fairly grey. Its not like D&D is really well equipped for something as non-traditonal as Stormlight Archive anyway. It'd need its own system

Fair enough.
