SKUNKSTUFF22 Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 I'm pretty new to Brandon Sanderson, the only one I've read is the Rithmatist. But I'm open to suggestions on where to start. Are there other series with a complicated yet logical magic-esque system? 2

No, that's not really something he does. Come to think about it, I can't recall any series he's written that even has magic in it. And organizing it into a logical, well thought out system? Ha! Are you sure you're on the right website? .... I'm totally kidding. Everything he's written has an incredibly intelligent magic system that he can talk about with gusto and excitement for hours. (Check out the Arcanum in the links section.) I recommend the Reckoners series if you liked the Rithmatist. For more traditional magic fantasy, try his flagship Stormlight Archive series, or the Mistborn books. Or, his new book Skyward is out. I hear it's good. Or the Alcatraz books (another YA series). What I'm trying to say is all his books are fantastic.
Nel he/him Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Welcome! I am new here too but have read 6 Cosmere books so far. Normally I would say Stormlight Archive straight away but I think you need to begin with Elantris first then Mistborn trilogy (first era) then The Way of Kings -> Warbreaker -> Words of Radiance -> Edgedancer -> Oathbringer. Personally, I did not read them in that order and I think it was not a good choice. If you want 100% immersion were everything falls into place then read in that order. If you don't care then just jump straight to Stormlight Archive like I did. Enjoy! 1
Damian he/him Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 I loved Mistborn 1st & 2nd era (as he's now officially calling them after ditching their original 1.5 name). Reckoners is fab but I think the magic system in Mistborn may suit your style a little more. Era 1 is full of gritty characters and desperation whereas era 2 has a lighter tone to it. Elantris was his first & Warbreaker is kind of like Elantris in a mirror so both of those are equally fab! Happy reading
+Sorana she/her Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Hello and welcome to the shard! All his books are great But Elantris is only one book, so I think it would offer a good way to start into the cosmere, without having tons of books to read in front of you.
