Shardstorm he/him Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I have been a long time 17th shard reader now, as well as from the coppermind. I really enjoy doing research and finding out what people speculate might be, or explaining their views of what is.I never took the step to sign up and post something of my own, contribute, and get more into this marvelous fandom. Sanderson has been my favourite author since I read WoK when it came out! I proceeded to read Mistborn, Elantris, Warbreaker, Words of Radiance and now TES.. I haven't read any of the others yet, what do you guys suggest? I have read into Hoid and characters who hop between the shardworlds, I read the compiled list of Q/A with Brandon, too. And I have figured out putting spoiler stuff in these hidden little spoiler boxes Is there anything that you feel I really MUST know that might not occur to a first time 17thShard poster?? How can Sanderson juggle so many projects at once and have such amazing novels!?I lent my mum The Emperors Soul for mothers day, she seems to be enjoying it, while she doesn't usually read Fantasy. 5
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 When you say you've read Mistborn and WoR, Do you mean you've read their entire series? Or just those two? And Welcome!
Shardmancer he/him Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Welcome.. Enjoy trolling for hours on end through thoeries and condensed index.. Make sure to put spoiler tags on things..!! GJ
Delightful Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Welcome! And congrats for working out the spoiler tags, if you can figure that out, you'll be fine It seems like you've read all his mainstream fantasy, have you tried his YA? Most people I think prefer The Rithmatist because it's more Cosmere-y, but I personally preferred Steelheart. There's also Alcatraz which I haven't read but is apparently hilarious. 1
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Yes, his non cosmere work is well worth the time as Delightful said. He also has a number of short fiction works that are largely free to read up on his website: http://brandonsanderson.com/library/ I particularly enjoyed Defending Elysium, Firstborn, and Shadows for Silence (though you have to buy and anthology to read that one)

I've read the 4 Mistborn novels out to date. I've read the two Stormlight as well, which were my favourites so far. Welcome! I think I'll go for Steelheart next, I'm currently reading Memories of Ice from The Malazan Book of the Fallen (Book 3), by Steven Erikson, but will probably order Steelheart online, because Chapters seems more and more overpriced these days. My order for a Szeth shirt and Bridge Four badge just shipped! But I'm regretting not getting a signed book with it. Thanks for the welcome guys, it's good to be here! Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 What is YA? YA = Young Adult. It usually refers to books aimed at middle school / high school age 1
