I was reading Warbreaker when I noticed this:

From the Prologue:

Vasher could, of course, have up to the Fifth Heightening at any time, if he wished.

BS has said that Returned can suppress their Divine Breath-which is how he can attain the Fifth Heightening anytime he pleased.

This implies that Returned are of the Fifth Heightening.

BUT in Chapter Three we find out:

Returned were of the Eighth Heightening. [/quot]

So which is it?

Quotes are from the e-book downloaded from Sanderson's website, version 6.1

Page 49? The copy I just accessed from Sanderson's website said Fifth Heightening.

Yeah, the ebook you're looking at has a typo.

The version I have confirms Fifth in chapter 3.

Ahh thank you!

Yup, looks like that version has a typo. It's definitely supposed to be Fifth Heightening.

I'm looking at the hardcover PDF (which you can also download) and it looks like that typo was fixed at that point.

Ditto for the fifth heightening being the natural state of returned. It's an important plot point, given the powers listed in the Ars Arcanum for people who reach the fifth heightening.

At first I thought it was just a typo but the audiobook by Graphic Audio had the same error so thanks for clearing it up guys :D
