Feverstone keep

Listening to the audio book and realized something important. In Dalinar’s vision of feverstone keep out on what he says is the pure lake they are looking for ;Sja-anat’s spy complete with entire squads of men each with a Knight radiant. Storm father explains to dalinar that the visions shown are important points in history for one reason or another. Notably the Spren they chase in the vision gets away after they discover it brought a escort they stop chasing the smaller one and get ready to fight the thunderclast. Now here is my own assumptions. I get the feeling that they don’t have a unlimited amount of giant stone creatures just hanging around. So for one to be here when the knight radiants of old have mentioned that the voidbringers have a unhealthy interest in feverstone keep makes me think this is some kinda turning point or some very useful information that the voidbringers were willing to allocate valuable resources to. Also having it implied that Sja-anat was in charge by saying it was her spy. Also dalinar assesses the state of equipment he is wearing and notes that it’s from a certain time period of history but some kingdoms still use the same arch type armor just replaced with steel to inspire there troops. If we had more info on exactly what regions , kingdoms used this type of ancestral armor we could probably pin point better where feverstone keep is hidden. Pure lake is a good place to start i guess but we all know that Brandon Sanderson is a master of misdirection and red flags. See Mistborn series Terris homeland.

I don’t know if feverstone keep was ever hidden...

I interpreted that as perhaps it was some sort of outpost, and it was important as a move against the voidbringers at that time. Remember, technology was much less advanced by that point. Also, perhaps Odium saw that the Recreance would (partially) happen there, and wanted access to some shards.

Definitely talked about as a fortress. Also mentioned to be of significant importance to the voidbringers but no one understands why. I don’t think it was just looked at for shards as the recreance has not happened yet they would still have forms of power so shards at that point would not be priority. Also if you look at the part about the unmades spy and the thunderclast helping it get away by creating a distraction something more is definitely going on here. Like to point out as well that two thunderclasts have been killed so far in the series and both of them didn’t go up against a full knight radiant. Both the radiants shown had squires appearing in the end of the vison to attack the thunderclast. It has no chance of survival. Speculation of course. Thus pointing out again thou that a mighty voidbringer sacrificed itself for a tiny spren. the fused expressing its disgust so openly to a voidspren for talking to much like a human in OB shows us that they view voidspren at a lower tier compared to the higher forms of power. I just think this will have some very serious implications later on.

Ah got them mixed up. It’s just noted as the Lake fortress vision on the coppermind. Still mentioned as fortress not an outpost. The Stormfather mentions that Honor wanted to share these visions with worthy people and that the visions all had things that were important for said worthy people.

Ah nice find didn’t connect the two. Thou it is specifically shown that the two radiants are a windrunner and a stoneward. Maybe this did end up as a major event if the lake fortress was actually a sky breakers fortress because in the actual vision with feverstone keep when they show part of the recrecreance happening it’s again stonewards and windrunners giving up shards no other order is represented. Cause and effect maybe.

I did think it was potentially important that the Skybreakers currently have their secret fortress on the edge of the Purelake.  Perhaps the two are related.

Great catch!

Maybe it was a Radiant fortress not necessarily of any particular order and when all the other orders quit the Skybreakers started using it.  It could also be that each order had a base in one of the 10 Silver Kingdoms and Selas Tales (where the Purelake is) was the Skybreakers.

Although, in the WoK vision where Dalinar talks to a radiant it almost sounds like she's saying the KR all live in Urithiru or Althethela. Maybe only her order lives in Alethela, but that's not how she makes it sound.

Quote

WoK Ch. 19 Starfalls: She laughed. "The Knights Radiant fight for no kings and for all of them."     "Then where do you live?"

"Urithiru is where our orders are centered, but we live in cities all across Alethela" ...

Dalinar said. "Alethk ... Alethela. You live there?"  "It is our duty and our privilege.", the woman said, "to stay vigilant for the Desolation. One kingdom to study the arts of war so that the others might have peace. We die so that you may live. It has ever been our place."

Maybe the KR had war time fortresses in all the kingdoms, but they trained and lived in Alethela during the breaks between desolations.

It would make sense that each order has a different fortress that is there own outside of the Urithiru. I know the humorous Urithiru PSAs thread was just for fun, but it brings up some good points. Many orders would not get along with each other. We hear stories of the Skybreakers and Windrunners fighting over guilty people and I cannot imagine that other orders did not have at least some disagreements over life in general, that is why we need the Bondsmiths. But back to my point, the various orders do not all have the same purpose. The Windrunners, Stonewards, and Edgedancers seem to be combat based Radiants while the Elsecallers deal with the Spren societies and cognitive realm. Urithiru acts as a home base for when things get really bad and as a train terminal for the Oathgates. Lets say George the Windrunner needs to get from Shinovar to Thaylen city. Well, George could falll with style for several days and use a ton of stormlight and risk being intercepted by the Fused that have taken over Azir. Or he could catch the 6th hour Oathgate to Urithiru, have an 2 hour layover to check up on the latest directives about using Adhesion on criminals, gossip about that one WIllshaper, grab some cheap chouta, and then catch the 8th hour Oathgate to Thaylen city. It is cheaper, in both time and stormlight, to use the Oathgates. Also, the Windrunners are protectors, it would make sense for them and the Stonewards to have several bases across the globe staffed with a couple windrunners and their squires, one or two stonewards and maybe one other radiant order depending on the base's purpose. That way you do not run into any surprise attacks by Fused or Voidspren.
