mycoltbug Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Hey all, Wanted to let you know that Goodreads.com is giving away 10 copies of the ARC for Alloy of Law. Go sign up and good luck to you! The entry time closes on Oct. 7, 2011. So if you are like me and want to read more of this novel pre-release make sure you go and put in. I imagine it will go like other contests of his on that site in the past with several hundred people putting in. I think TWoK had over 1000 entered in.
mycoltbug Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Advanced Reader Copy. Usually its pre-heavy editing by the editor so it can have spelling mistakes, inconsistencies, etc in the book. More info on ARC books found here.
Adrienne she/her Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Awesome - thanks! I've been curious if anyone around here was a goodreads member. I joined and from time to time add sporadically add books I've read.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 DONE. LIKE A BOSS. *triumphant stance* (does anyone know if we can put GIFs in our posts/if they'll work?)
Aashyma she/her Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 DONE. LIKE A BOSS. *triumphant stance* (does anyone know if we can put GIFs in our posts/if they'll work?) There's an image insert button right after the yellow smiley.
Chaos he/him Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Oh phooey, it's US only The way I understand it is that Tor is the US publisher only, so legally does not have rights to ship them elsewhere. Tor does not own the rights to any other region. If anyone has a different explanation, feel free to correct me on how it works.

I just entered, and at that time there were already 942 entries. As a side note, they had the most entertaining terms and conditions i've ever read.

Adrienne she/her Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Brandon Sanderson, best known for completing Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time Did anyone find this intro a little odd?
Aashyma she/her Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Did anyone find this intro a little odd? Actually no, although his other books are unavailable in India, I had no trouble fining his WoT books.
FellKnight he/him Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Did anyone find this intro a little odd? Not really, just look at the sales figures for WoT vs any other Brandon book... perhaps this will change after SA becomes the epic Epic of epicness! Fell
EHyde she/her Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Thanks for sharing! I've entered now.
Squallor he/him Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Is this an actual lottery for the ARCs, or is it weighted? I thought goodreads gave out ARCs more to active users who had reviewed books and had a larger presence on the site, but I might have just miss-understood when I last read about their ARC giveaways.
