Zape Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 What would happen if you connected two spanreeds set both to either send or receive mode and then wrote something?
Ashertliden Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I don't believe it is possible to set both to either send or recieve mode. I believe that switching one spanreed to send should automatically set the other fabrial to receive. I might be wrong. 1
RShara she/her Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I'm not sure you could affix two gems to a single reed and have it still work at all. The different purposes would kind of mess with each other.
Kaladin Zahel Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I would imagine it works the same as with hand radios. If both buttons are pressed, nothing is received. If both buttons are released, nothing is sent.
Tglassy Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Um. Spanreads don’t have a “send or receive” mode. They have a “we are now connected” and “we are not connected” modes. You’re question is a little confusing. When the spanreads are connected and both are turned on, if you move one, the other moves as well. Either person could grab either spanreads and start trying to move it, but it would be like two people grabbing the same pen: they’d wrestle over who gets to write. That’s why they have strict ways of doing the messages. Turning on a spanread makes the other one flash until it is turned on. But before you start writing, you set up the paper and ink in the exact same spot, then put the spanreed in its designated spot, every time. This uniformity makes sure that when someone else needs to ink their pen, both spanreeds are in a position to be inked at the same time. 3
