Edgar Allen Poe - The Pit and the Pendulum

Ooh! Good one! I was so scared reading this when I was younger. Ok here goes...

A terrified and damaged person is brought to trial and is imprisoned and suffers hallucinations auditory and visual in what may or may not be a cell or pit, terrifying the reader and towards the end the reader isn't quite sure of anything other than his/her fears of darkness and enclosed spaces.

Ok how about Artemis Fowl, the book. I don't think there is a movie.

A kid finds out there are magical creatures and has to save the world from some of them and other humans. (It's been a while since I've read them, but that's what I remember)

How about Stormlight Archive?

Ooh, um I'll do Way of Kings?

On a planet named Roshar in a system named Roshar lived two people's ravaged by centuries of war and torn apart by meddling Shards; now the Final Desolation comes and the Oaths are said again bringing about life's biggest hope for survival and hopefully the downfall of the Shard that started this all, Odium.

So, Words of Radiance? Um, so I've realized this is way harder than I thought, so yay run on sentences!!

I'll just do Shallan, who is the main main character, 's arc.

A girl kills her mother with a magic sword and chokes her father to death, then realizes that she has magic powers and helps save the world with a old guy and some grumpy bridgeman.

Edit: forgot the prompt.

since we can't do OB spoilers yet, how about I am Number Four?

Ooh been a while since I saw the movie, the books I haven't gotten around to reading it. I've got a huge list that I am slowly but surely getting through. Here goes...

A seemingly ordinary teenage boy gets his world rocked upside down and discovers magical/supernatural abilities, danger and a lady love.

Ok, how about the Fellowship of the Ring? I don't think we've done that one.

Some little people take an Evil guy's ring into the woods where they plan what to do with it with a bunch of hippies, miners, and guys with beards, but what they mostly are doing is running away from creepy guys on horses.

Next up, The Two Towers!

A meddlesome wizard comes to the backwoods part of the world to needle his friend to get out some more by inviting a whole bunch of hairy and slightly angsty dwarves into his home and volunteers his services as a thief, which needless to say the friend is not pleased at first and towards the end becomes an eccentric adventure junky.

How about Warbreaker?

Posted

One princess gets switched for another, one bad guy gets switched for another, and one good guy gets switched for another.

How about Legion

Posted

I'm assuming you mean Legion by Brandon. So...

An ordinary looking man with many illusory compatriots take on interesting and sometimes dangerous cases, but during the most important case, saving his love, proves to be the hardest and life-changing until he learns to let go.

Dune, go.

Yes it is. The new movie counts to my favourite ones at the moment.

Smuggling beer he won a bet, a bride, escaped justice and learned nothing.

Since we're stuck with movies, how about "From dusk till dawn"?

Wow! Nailed Smokey and the Bandit :) I love it!

I also love the theme song! which in itself sums it up pretty well too ‘we got a long way to go and a short time to get there, we’re gonna do what they say can’t be done’

Labryinth: David Bowie IS the goblin king and that’s all that matters....(at least that’s all I remember)

Anyone up for Brothers K by Dostoevsky?

A drunk, an atheist, and a monk walked into a bar, or rather into a lawyers office that was certified by the BAR because everyone thought the drunk offed his dad just because he had assaulted someone at his dad's house the night of his dad's murder and had loudly proclaimed his intentions to kill his miserly dad, but he was found guilty because he was in fact stabbed by some sharp and pointy love triangles and was eventually sent to the cooler.

(Whew, that's a long sentence, but The Brothers Karamazov is my second favorite book of all time).

When a group of ladies asks you who is prettier, demure and say they all are too enchanting to decide between, you'll save a lot of lives that way.

A lady is stolen, argives are aggrieved, 1000 ships sail because of a face, the argives are Hectored, hector is a-killed by Achilles, the argives are further aggrieved because Achilles is pouting about his pin-cushioned pal Patrocles, achilles is a-killed by an arrow to the ankle, the Trojans learn that sometimes you do look a gift horse in the mouth, the city falls, armor clangs around them, and guess what, people still don't believe Cassandra, that's tragedy for ya.

To stick with the classics whose game for The Scalet Letter (which I still wish was a once sentence book, sheesh).

I loved that one ... not. (I know it's a classic, but still, that one was hard work to finish.)

Carrying a red letter she was brandmarked for protecting the father of her child, who stood by her side only shortly before his death.

Another movie, to lift he spirits a bit: Guardians of the Galaxy 1

A seemingly human man gets caught up having to save the fate of the Universe, but not without the help of his newly acquired crew; in a word, I am Groot.

Ok, how about a show? That ok? Anybody seen, Cowboy Bebop? If not, how about a Christopher Nolan Batman movie.
