Arin he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 In the prologue to WoK, Kalak sees red, orange and purple blood. Red is "human", orange is parshendi and purple is...? Who? Do we know who has purple blood? 2
Quiver he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I remember assuming the purple blood belonged to the Thunderclasts.
PorridgeBrick he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Thunderclasts are rock. They don't have blood. Chasmfiends, however, do, and that blood is purple. 1
Quiver he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Oh right. Strange. I know Thunderclasts pull themselves out of the ground, and were made of rock, but for some reason I still had the thought that you could cut them and make them bleed... even though Shardblades are the only thing that could cut rock. That was odd.
Argent he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 The only situation I can imagine where Thunderclasts would bleed is if they resembled the Lifeless and had some equivalent of ichor alcohol running through them... which seems far-fetched. Also, not only chasmfiends have purple blood - I believe we've seen a couple of other native animals to Roshar (axehounds come to mind) whose blood is the same color. So I would guess all of the native fauna has purple blood. 2
duladen he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) I've seen this discussed before. I know it's kind of splitting hairs, but the third color in the prologue is violet blood and chasmfiends have purple blood. Would I be surprised if it turns out the violet blood is from some sort of great shell or carapaced beast? No. Would I be surprised if it turns out to be something completely different? No again! Considering the color of their skin, I think Aimians could be a viable candidate for the violet blood as well. Edit: I got it mixed up. Prologue had violet blood, chasmfiends have purple blood. Numb Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Aimians have blue finger nails and crystalline blue eyes so their blood could be violet or blue I think.

duladen he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 The prologue says violet too. My mistake! Edited my post.
bschnebs he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) I don't know about you, but in my book violet and purple are pretty much the same thing. To be technical, purple is what you get when you mix red and blue, violet is the hue that comes between blue and red on the light spectrum. Edit: Not really, that only works if the light spectrum was looped around on itself as violet comes after blue and red is before it. Edited April 15, 2014 by bschnebs

Red comes several steps before blue.
bschnebs he/him Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Violet is actually the hue that comes after blue on the spectrum. Red comes several steps before blue. I tried to edit my post to fix that, but edit wasn't working for me. Edit: Now edit works, and I put corrected myself there. Edited April 15, 2014 by bschnebs
