Shard Intent

Solace

Question

I’ve searched, but have found no info to this question. The question is: could a shardic intent be inherited, but not it’s power. For example could someone gain the intent of preservation or take up the shard, but not the investiture power to raise them to the higher consciousness. We know that power can be siphoned off through creating, but could a shard do this to the point where they only have a physical body? And we’re thus only left with the shards intent.

It's possible to be affected by a Shard's Intent without ever Ascending (for example, the more Breath you have the more you're influenced by the ideal of Endowment) if that's what you're asking, but what you're describing with siphoning power doesn't seem possible. Using Endowment as an example again, Brandon has said that she can't 'run out' of Investiture to bestow upon people. Even the Shards that created an entire planet for themselves didn't lock up that much of their power in the grand scheme of things and the very nature of that creation means that it's difficult for them to 'move' Physically/Cognitively beyond that system and expend a similar armount of Investiture in creation somewhere else.

Now, if you Ascend and then de-Ascend, you're a Sliver and there will be some continuing influence that way  Rashek remained influenced by Preservation's Intent and if Ati had been able to give up his Shard the influence of Ruin would fade but there would still be permanent effects.

Just wanna point out, I know the WoB ur referring to, and it just says that's Endowment couldn't lose enough power from giving breaths that it would effect her much. This still leaves a whole slew of other ways to siphon off power. And, theoretically, she could change how much Investiture is in 1 breathe to the point that it did. Kinda semantics but that's like half off all responses in here lol
