Radiant_thoughts Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Namely the stormfather is a dawnshard. We may see Dalinar control the highstorm with one later on and the possibilities are endless. Anyone find this plausible. 1
Khyrindor he/him Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I don't think Dalinar will control the highstorm, but I like the idea that the Stormfather is a Dawnsinger. The Dawnshards are supposed to be like a treasure of some kind.
Radiant_thoughts Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I thought they were a kind of shardblades.
Balefire Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I thought they were a kind of shardblades. And therefore a type of spren.
FlatLine Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I thought they were a kind of shardblades. That's just speculation by all of us. I think the only account of them is that they bind. 1
Radiant_thoughts Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 This just makes sense there r prolly ten of them. The stormfather is most likely one. Since brandon said one was different from the rest, maybe one is evil or bound to someone evil.
Seloun Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Based on the recent WoB regarding Dawnshards (one is not like the others) and Heralds (Heralds have non-surgebinder powers even without the Honorblades) I'm wondering if the Heralds themselves aren't Dawnshards. This might explain the epigraph: “Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind any creature voidish or mortal, he crawled up the steps crafted for Heralds, ten strides tall apiece, toward the grand temple above.” The Heralds certainly are capable of binding things, somehow - the Oathpact bound Odium itself. It might also be why Heralds are directly referenced in the epigraph. Maybe this referencing a body or a Herald knocked unconscious, or maybe it's a method to snap Heralds out of their fugue. It might also explain why Tanavast says “You might be able to get him to choose a champion. He is bound by some rules. All of us are. A champion could work well for you, but it is not certain. And… without the Dawnshards… Well, I have done what I can. It is a terrible, terrible thing to leave you alone." since the Heralds quit on him.
avenda Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 *Speculation* I was wondering if the dawnshard/s is/are splinters of Honor. Or maybe it is Honor itself, thought splintered all these times... And probably hidden/protected by holder of Cultivation. I think. I have no evidences to these, just gut feeling and hoping thats how it is, hence speculation. I mean why would the Desolation keeps repeating and Odium keeps trying to get to Roshar. His targets are the shards themselves, if he keeps trying then probably thats because he hasn't really destroy/splintered Honor. Or maybe he is just trying to get to Cultivation... Also I think Cultivation can be found by starting from Shinovar. If She is still in Roshar... I really really hope we get to see more about the Dawnshards and Cultivation revealed in the next books #superexcited
