whattheHoid she/her Posted June 10, 2018 Report Share Posted June 10, 2018 So I have been able to find full maps of the Cosmere with all the shards and full maps with all known Worldhoppers. However I was looking for a map of the Cosmere with the distances between the planets. Basically, I want to know how far and how long it would take to travel the whole Cosmere Universe with a space ship, something like the Millenium Falcon. A ship that could warp speed. I don't know if we even know how far the planets are from each other in the physical realm? If this doesn't exist, but we know relatively the distance between each system, then does anyone know where to find it, because I want to map this out, for science. Thanks guys! We know that the AU map was drawn from a particular perspective within the Cosmere (not from Silverlight or its equivalent Physical location) and that not all the stars seen in the depiction are actually part of the Cosmere. We'll apparently get more Star Trek-y maps at some point in the future when that becomes relevant, ie around Mistborn Era 4. But it sounds like a Star Trek ship could get from one end of the Cosmere to the other in a week or two and a ship in Star Wars could get across it in hours, to use those examples. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I also had this thought that at one point, some planet will have had a star treky type spacecraft where anyone could travel between planets. I think ships from Star Wars are a bit faster than that, because isn't there a line about how "they could be on the other side of the galaxy by now" fairly soon after the Millennium Falcon dissapears? and I think that the Star Wars galaxy is larger (in number of planets and stars, at least) than the cosmere, and I think that the reason it takes longer than that to get from some places to others is that they have to avoid planets, stars, and even nebulas in order to prevent faster-than-light collisions. just sayin'. whattheHoid she/her Posted June 22, 2018 Author Report Share Posted June 22, 2018 @ethan sedai yeah I don't know too much about Star Trek and how fast their ships are, but I, too, remember the Millennium Falcon traveling to the far end of the galaxy, in what appeared to be an hour maybe, I think in A New Hope? When they go from Tatooine (sp?) to the Death Star? That was what I was thinking of; that maybe the collective inhabitants of the Cosmere would develop into a society that would have ships capable of that speed and maybe travel out of the Cosmere galaxy. But, perhaps it might be easier to travel through the perpendicularities or at least some of them? I assume as Brandon writes more Cosmere novels and time progresses we might get somewhere close to "tradition" space travel. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I did some quick guesstimates of travel time based on figures from Wookiepedia and Memory Alpha to get those numbers but I probably underestimated the Star Wars figure just a bit.
