Lopen stormblessed Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Have no clue as to how Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor is pronounced. 2
Calderis he/him Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Noo-moo-hoo-koo-mah-kee-ah-kee-eye-ah-loon-ah-more. 5
Khyrindor he/him Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I pronounce it slightly differently. Noo-moo-hoo-koo-mah-kee-ah-kee-ay-ah-loo-nah-more
Elandera she/her Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I've always found the Horneater language to be very Hawaiian/Pacific Islander. Those languages tend to have only one sound per letter, and nearly every letter is pronounced. It's very phonetic. 1
anna she/her Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 My brain usually fuzzes over the middle, so the way I've been pronouncing it is: noo-moo ... ... loon-ah-more 1
Pagerunner he/him Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 If you want to hear Brandon pronounce it, we've got it on a recording over in Arcanum: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/175/#e8411 1

Snorkel Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 That's weird. It reads like it's based on Polynesian language family. If so it should be as Calderis typed it.
Calderis he/him Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Brandon has flat out said he pronounces Kelsier different than the in world pronunciation. He's also said pronounce things how you want... So with both of those facts, I stand by my interpretation. 1

"ai" - pronounced as eye being a common one that's used here. Au is another, pronounced kind of like "ahw". Think Maui, it's Mahw-ee, not Mah-ooh-ee Edit: another "Ei" pronounced ey. Hei-hei is hey-hey, not Heh-ee-heh-ee Edit edit: you can sometimes pick the dipthongs from the double vowels by the lack of the apostrophe to indicate glottal stop. Edited April 4, 2018 by Snorkel 1

Brandon Sanderson Their linguistics and some parts of their culture are based on Pacific Islanders, though their physical characteristics are not. source When I first read the book, the way Rock spoke I heard a Russian accent... Then he said his name and it was as it should have been all along. 1
Stark he/him Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 But now I want to hear his name spoken with a Russian accent....
