Elfindance she/her
Hallo! I suppose I should get one of these introductory topics written up first thing, now I've registered. I'm Elfindance and I like to read. And think about what I'm reading. And then re-read it. And then think about it some more. And eventually I start analyzing and theorizing and then there's no going back for my sanity... I could ramble for a while on an extensive description of my discovery of Brandon Sanderson's novels, but I probably oughtn't to do that just yet. I will start, then with Adonalsium. One day, perhaps half a year ago as I was re-reading the Way of Kings, I noticed the word 'Adonalsium' thrown out there in some dialogue. This sparked my interest, for literally two days before I had finished a Mistborn Trilogy re-read, plus annotations. And I remembered 'wasn't there a similar word in Hero of Ages?' and so I looked it up. And they were the same word, except for one letter. But it was similar enough. And that changed everything because I zoomed to my laptop, googled 'Adonalsium' clicked a link, and had my mind blown by the Cosmere and Hoid. I'm not sure what happened in that moment, only I thought the whole idea was the coolest thing ever. And I began to theorize and read up on the Cosmere anywhere I could find information on it, and then found this awesome forum and read some of the theories here, and, well, I couldn't stay away. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Complaints? Critiques? Oh, and, what should I do first? Or second, I guess, because this was first?

In regards to what you should second/first, i would recommend reading all of brandons books before setting foot in the theories boards (you should be fine sticking to whatever you've read, like mistborn theories or something, but stay away from the general theories boards). However, if you dont mind have having a book spoiled, analyzed, dissected, decomposed, rebuilt, reorganized, buried for three years, reanalyzed, and left as completed long before you've read it, you can throw my previous statement out the window and dive right in. I agree with Eer, It seems like you'll really enjoy the general theories section of the forums but under no circumstances go in there before you finish Warbreaker and Elantris,
Joe ST he/him
Welcome to our corner of the internet Elfindance, be prepared for madness... though not from me, of course, for I am perfectly sane!
Elfindance she/her
Ah, thank you all! I have actually indeed read nearly all of Sanderson's work, excluding Alcatraz, which I cannot seem to find anywhere. But I believe I've read all his other published works. (not the last few Wheel of Time books, though. That's my Autumn epic reading project.) Anyways, thank you all very much. Madness, theorizing, sounds just wonderful!
