Devout Pathian
Okay, I know who Vashar is in Stormlight. I forgot his name, but I know he’s the grumpy guy who taught Adolin the sword as well as Kaladin. Anyway, I just finished Warbreaker last night. It was great. However, today I thought of something that I’m confused about. Okay so I read somewhere that Vashar went to Roshar, because it’s easeir to get stormlight than breaths, so this way he can keep living. That makes sense, but what does Vashar do during the weeping? It’s weeks long and halfway through all the spheres are dun. Where does he get the stormlight or breath to survive the last week or so of the weeping? We know he’s been on Roshar at least since Adolin was young and he taught him the sword. digitalbusker he/him
Presumably he has some larger gemstones squirreled away to hold light through the Weeping. And if a Nalthian week is seven days, then the four 5-day Rosharan weeks of the Weeping would only cost him three breaths. And that's on a Light year, when there isn't a highstorm in the middle.
RShara she/her
Yep. 3 Breaths every year or two is far better than 52 Breaths a year
Calderis he/him
And returned don't require a breath until the eight day. Warbreaker spoilers (kinda pointless in this thread at this point, but still) Spoiler Brandon Sanderson Siri Enters and Sees Returned Just a little note here. Returned live for eight days without a Breath, though the week is seven days long in this world. Why? Well, I figured that they'd need an extra day as leeway. On day seven, they start to grow weak and sluggish. If they don't consume a Breath, their body will consume their own on the eighth day of their life, and they'll die again. In some parts of this world, Returned aren't worshipped, but instead seen as something akin to vampires. They draw in Breath to survive, and need a supply of people to feed off of. They tend to wear black, since it's the most powerful color for draining to Awaken things. source
