quadbox Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Did anyone else notice, when Dalinar summoned the perpendicularity, odiums wording? Quote “No!” Odium screamed. He stepped forward. “No, we killed you. WE KILLED YOU!” He said "we". Not "I", "we". Is this an indication he had help from another shard in splintering honour? Bavadin perhaps? If so, is the reason he was so able to splinter dominion, devotion, etc similar perhaps? We saw how hard ruin tried and failed... Thoughts?
Blazenella he/him Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Something I recently noticed while reading OB was that in one of the Venli interludes, the Fused talk about Honor, saying this: Quote " We killed the enemy, but his power remains in his surgebinders" My first thought was that the Fused were there and somehow helped splinter Honor. The could have been by all means another shard, and the fused may have not been there, but something made the Fused able to return to life and it may be because of their part in Splintering Honor.
A Dopey Spren he/him Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I believe that whatever returns the Fused also returns the Heralds. So there must be a correlation as to where they go, and how they escape... Any ideas?

Except Honor doesn't die until after the Recreance, which is way after the Fused started their shenanigans. We don't know enough about shard vs shard to say whether or not the Fused could be a factor in that kind of fight. Maybe they harried Honor's Cognitive aspects while Odium kept him busy. Or maybe shards tend to cancel each other out, so any additional sources of power can tip the balance.
Radiant Returned he/him Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 One other thing I've thought of as a possibility aside from Odium referencing another Shard (like Bavadin) when he said "we" was he's referring to him as Rayse and him as Odium. In the original Letters from WoR, Hoid rejects the premise that Odium is more of a force than an individual who's retained his own goals and sentience. I think Odium has found a way, unlike most of the other Shards, to separate and preserve his own personality and character from that of his Shard's Intent, though I'm sure he remains incredibly influenced by that. This theory seems further vindicated by how calm Odium can appear to be when having conversations, I think he's able to contain that pure outpouring of emotion that his Intent would drive him to be.
RShara she/her Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 There's a pretty lengthy discussion on this over in this thread:
