Ironeyes Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I was checking out the new WoB database when I found the following: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/123-sofia-signing/#e3299 "Questioner If you were entrusted with a Shard of Adonalsium, which Shard? Brandon Sanderson Ahhhm...heh heh heh...maybe Ingenuity. " My first reaction was, "Dang, Brandon just accidentally let slip another Shard name!" Then my second reaction was, "No, he probably made that up to troll us." So which is it? 1
GeneralHZRD he/him Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 With Brandon it could go either way, personally I like the idea of Ingenuity being a Shard.
MacThorstenson he/him Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 If Brandon did accidentally let another shard slip, could this be the shard that was offered to Hoid during the events of the shattering?
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Someone should ask him at the Oathbringer signings.
Leyrann Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I like the things you could do with it, but I don't know if I like it as a part of Adonalsium... On the other hand, I suppose you need to have quite some ingenuity to be able to create whatever you want to create as a god.
MacThorstenson he/him Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 If we assume that Adonalsium is sentient investiture and doesn't have a vessel, then wouldn't Ingenuity be necessary for it to create humans? Without a desire to be inventive, creative, and original, why would Adonalsium create anything? 2
Weltall Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 This has come up before and there's debate over whether Brandon really slipped up and gave us a new Shard or if he made one up on the spot to answer the question. Brandon also followed up by saying that readers could interpret his response however they wanted to. If Brandon was an RPG character he'd totally be a dodge tank.
