I think @Calderis had a great idea. I think shipping takes up to much of the discussion sometimes. I am interested what people think will happen with the budding Adolin - Kaladin bromance. I was hoping after WoR that Adolin would get the Honorblade and it would somewhat reverse the roles with Kaladin being the superior at something. I am worried that Sadeas murder is going to create some problems with Kaladin.

I believe when Kaladin confronts Adolin about Sadeas murder the scene will go something like this.

Kaladin approached Adolin with his arms behind his back.

Adolin sat on the ground against the wall. He noted Kaladin with a sideways glance but said nothing.  Clearly wrung out after the shouting match with Dalinar.

Kaladin stood next to him. "So, you killed Sadeas?"

Adolin nodded but kept his eyes to the floor.

"Well then let me offer you a drink." Kaladin pulled the bottle of purple wine and two glasses from behind his back.

Adolin looked up at him, wide-eyed. "You aren't upset to learn I am a murderer?"

Kaladin sat down and filled one of the glasses. "Some of my best friends are murderers. Besides, all the bridgemen lives Sadeas wasted earned his place in Damnation long ago."

Adolin chuckled and took the drink.

And then he will help Adolin get out of Urithru.

I'm not so sure. The second ideal is to protect even his enemies, and if Kal has gotten over his burning-hatred-at-enemies phase, he might force himself to act angry. It won't be genuine, but he might turn him in, just the same.

He wasn't protecting Sadeas and some of his best friends are murderers. Bridge Four was not made up of angels. Sigzal is at least an attempted murderer. Kaladin swore an oath for his actions, but I don't think he will mind what Adolin did. But I guess we shall see.

I completely agree that Kal would support Adolin now! He would do something very similar to what you described. I'm just wondering if the future Kaladin, who is more entrenched with the Radiant ideals, would feel the same way.

But as you said, we shall see...

His oaths are about him not others. If the KR judged others by their own oaths I doubt different orders could get along.

Eh. Sadeas is dead. He can't protect him anymore. I don't think protecting extends to the dead.

It is worth noting that Kaladins 2nd Oath is "to protect even those I hate, so long as it is right".

I think a case could be made that given the circumstances and for the good of the world, Sadeas had to go. Combine that with Kaladin's feelings toward Sadeas and his absence at the time, I really can't see him having a particular issue with it.

I am totally wanting a Kaladin/ Adolin bromance though, it'll be awesome. If Adolin becomes a KR I think it'll be even better.

I sure hope this happens, I am just worried Kaladin won't be back anytime soon.

Pattern wants in on the Adolin bromance:

“Mmm. Yes, very, very nice man. Wonderfully smart too.”

“Why don’t you marry him, then?”

Pattern buzzed. “Is that—”

“No that’s not an option.”

Oh snap, everyone was expecting a love triangle, but I see a bromance-triangle a real possibility.

Love triangle?

Bruh, the love pentagram is in full effect!

Shallan, Kaladin, Adolin, Sylphrena and Pattern.

I wonder if Kaladin ever makes it back to Urithiru during Oathbringer (at least before the end of the book). I get the feeling Adolin gets found out before Kaladin makes it back.

Every chapter it seems less and less likely Kaladin is going back to Urithiru, but if the Kholinar oathgate ever gets opened up it could speed up the process.
