Rowroad
Hey there Sharders, Sanderfans, or w/e we shall be called! A wild Rowroad appears! I have been a sanderfan from like 2013, though I never registered till now. I have been around here though. I use the Coppermind a lot. I am blind, and am from Qatar. I'm honored to be on here. Also, I'm sorry if the formatting appears weird ish, some of the aspects of the forum don't respond well to screen readers, but I hope I would be of help in improving them. Cheers.

Mistborn is my favorite as well. It was my first Cosmere book ever, and it absolutely blew me away. I'm honestly more excited for the next Wax &a Wayne book then I am Oathbringer. But that's mainly because Oathbringer is already so close. Which book was your first?

My first book I've ever red from BS was TWoK, Stormlight was recommended to me by a friend and then I became a Cosmere nerd.

Nice. That's a good way to get introduced to Brandon. My first Sanderson book I've ever read was Steelheart. I loved it, so I quickly read Firefight, but then I had to wait forever for Calamity. But then I read The Rithmatist, which was really good. And then I stopped there because my middle school library didn't have any of his other books. I read Calamity last year, and I was so satisfied that it was finally finished. But it wasn't until around the very end of last year that I got online and was searching up stuff about The Reckoners that I discovered this forum and the Cosmere. And the rest is history.
ccstat he/him
Welcome! I also love Mistborn (which was my first). What parts of the forum most need improvement for screen readers? I'm sorry to say I hadn't thought at all about trying to navigate the forums that way.
Rowroad
Oh, It's alright. I wouldn't have expected it otherwise since as @StrikerEz noted by saying I was the first blind person they've seen on a forum, not a lot of blind people mix with forums. There are forums devoted entirely for the blind, but other than those not a lot of blind people really mix with fan forums. Regarding the inaccessible parts, there are links at the top (like notifications) that aren't red but just as "link," leading me to believe it might be a graphic link, or something close to that...honestly I don't know. :$. The way I opened it was checking where the link would lead me to by reading the address of the link. I think the messaging inbox had a few untitled links though, I couldn't be sure where those lead to, but if the notifications link gives a clew and is found in the inbox as well it might be it. I could test a few more links and give notes if I figure out where each one leads in a PM. Edit: I apparently also don't know how to actually make the at sign followed by a user work correctly either! ccstat he/him
I have trouble tagging people with the at sign when I'm typing sometimes, so that part's not too surprising. If you type @ with someone's name, a dropdown menu appears at your cursor with user names matching what you've put, and you have to click the matching name for it to tag them. The links at the top appear to be graphic+text, but I gather they are actually done with a custom font rather than an image, so it makes sense that the screen reader wouldn't know what to do with it. Feel free to PM me anything you find, but I would probably just end up passing it on to @Chaos, who is the admin primarily responsible for site maintenance. If there are simple fixes for those sorts of issues, such as providing alt text for an image, I'm sure he would be happy to help and could accommodate those easily. I don't know enough about screen readers or site design to know how involved it would be to make the links more self-explanatory. If there is anything that really hampers the site's accessibility, the best way to let us know about it is to make a post in the 17th Shard Discussion subforum. Chaos monitors that closely for things that are broken on the site, and is very responsive when there is something he can do about an issue (or to explain when it's out of his control).
StrikerEZ he/him
@Mekyo Wow, that sounds tough, honestly. Like @ccstat said, I'm sure that Chaos can help out with that, but it does sound weird how that's working though. Also, the reason it didn't tag me when you tried to is that the "Z" wasn't capitalized. Both the "E" and "Z" are supposed to be capitalized in my username. They might help solve that problem. Plus, what ccstat said about the drop-down username selection when you type in @
Rowroad
Hrm. Yep. Weird. I don't see a dropdown menu, its probably one of the stuff that I can't access yet. I will have a note of pretty much most of the inaccessible parts...the ones that I can actually discern anyway and will give clews about the ones that I do not know and will PM them. Hope this helps not only me but anyone who would use a screen reader and wouldn't know how to work around it.

I think we'll just have to wait for @Chaos to get here and see what he thinks.
