Toaster Retribution he/him Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 I was browsing around the Shard WoBs on Theoryland, and I found this: Quote ALAXEL () ? is unknown, but likely a request for previously unknown information to be added to a personalized copy of TWOK BRANDON SANDERSON () Alaxel got a personalized copy of WoK, and written in it was "Odium and Hoid were once friends." Anyone who has seen this before? I have not, and I was very surprised by this. 3

+Extesian he/him Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 I figured all the Shatterers were originally friends, hence their involvement in the Shattering together. But I'd never seen that and it's a great one to highlight. And of course anything could be true for the original Vessels, but then being friends are one point makes sense to me.

Have a WoB that gives us a small snippet into their interactions. I see them as being united in the same purpose rather than friends. It's not specified, but its just the general feeling I get from the two w.o.b. I will include: Was the shattering of Adonalsium done, for the forces to attack the Anti-Adonalsium? BRANDON SANDERSON You’re focusing too much on the idea of the anti-adonalsium. What was really asked is “is there a force that opposes Adonalsium” and it left me a lot of wiggle room. In other words, the people who killed it was a force, or any person who opposed Adonalsium you could say is a force. What they were trying to get was a “devil” but that assumes Adonalsium is a more Christian-style God, and I have not confirmed any of that. And QUESTION I’m _____ ____ Adonalsium. Out of the people that were leftover from just before the Breaking, did they think it was a good idea or a bad idea? BRANDON SANDERSON Opinions are mixed. QUESTION Is it mixed between vessels and non-vessels? BRANDON SANDERSON Most of the vessels support the decision that they made. I would say of those remaining, who are not vessels, the majority think it was a bad idea. I would say ____ it’s not 100% http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1153 Edited July 16, 2017 by Ammanas
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted July 16, 2017 Author Posted July 16, 2017 I'm proud over the fact that I found a WoB that @Extesian had not heard of. When it comes to general relations between vessels, I'm guessing that they were on pretty good terms. We know that Tanavast and Cultivation were romantically involved, and it is a pretty good assumption that Aona and Skai, Ati and Leras and Rayse and Bavadin had some sort of relationship too. Also, as @Calderis pointed out, it is easier to hate when you used to care. I'm going to guess then that Hoid, Bavadin and Rayse were good friends once, but something (the Shattering?) placed Rayse and Bavadin on one side of a conflict and Hoid on the opposite, which is where the grudge comes from.
Ceradis Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 In WoR epilogue, Hoid mentions to Jasnah that Tanavast had bought him drinks before. The letter also talks about the vessels with what seems to be personal familiarity so this makes sense and kinda confirms that Hoid personally new most if not all of the shatterers.
