Thrand_Antharo
I was rereading Secret History and this line caught my attention, "You always jump at stories, Alonoe. Not every coincidence is a sign of someone drawing upon Fortune."(the f in Fortune was capitalised). This is on page 79 where the people in the fortress are discussing whether their sighting of Kelsier might be a Cognitive Shadow from Threnody. Does anyone else think this indicates that there is a shard called Fortune, and it is somehow related to Threnody. cloudjumper he/him
Don't quote me on this, but I think that the Shard on Threnody was called Ambition, and it was splintered. You could be on to something though.
Calderis he/him
I believe the common consensus is that it is referring to the realmatic attribute of Fortune, like with Chromium Feruchemy
+Extesian he/him
This was a thing people discussed when SH first came out, so good eye. But yeah the general consensus was the reference to Fortune was to the realmatic attribute (which is probably in more than just feruchemy) of someone drawing on luck, or fortune. See the WoB which indicates that the IRE are aware of this general realmatic ability, even if they're not thinking of it necessarily feruchemically. Quote Question As of Secret History, are the IRE aware of Feruchemical chromium? Brandon Sanderson Not as fully aware - They don’t know everything. Question The Spiritual Feruchemical metals - are all four of those Cosmere-wide things? Brandon Sanderson The short answer is yes. The long answer is, there are certain things such as Investiture and whatnot, that when we write the books we translate different words as the same word because they’re the same meaning. So what you’re getting it is when they use the word “fortune”, do they mean exactly the Feruchemical, and the answer is no - but it is a very similar concept. Weltall
Yeah, they're talking about a property that certain forms of Investiture can affect rather than a Shard. We know that Hoid has some ability which uses the same underlying mechanism as F-Chromium to know where he needs to be so there's more ways to alter 'Fortune' than just Feruchemy and as @cloudjumper says, we already know there's a Shard that was connected to Threnody and it was named Ambition.
