Thanks to this little WoP archive that I decided to reread, I found reference to this WoB.

Yes. Malen, femalen, male, and female. Basically there is a male neuter and a female neuter, and then a male and a female. And if you can't tell, the malen and femalen are both asexual, completely.

I think the word neuter makes a big difference.

Yeah. That definitely implies that some forms are incapable of breeding.
