StormblessDave
So teft's parents were part of the envisagers, and somehow it's teft's fault they all died, isn't this the perfect setup for a revenge story?Have we seen any of the envisagers yet?Could their crazy experiments have finally worked and a crazy radiant is out to kill teft? remember he wasn't sure whether there were any left alive? If this topic has already been discussed,I apologize, could you direct me to that thread? Weltall
While it's possible there are still some out there, there are two main problems I can think of with the idea that we could have an Envisager Radiant out for revenge. First, Nahel Bonds simply don't work like the Envisagers imagined. If you put yourself in a life or death situation and survived because of Surgebinding, it's because you already had it beforehand and while their understanding of Surgebinding and Radiants has clear limitations, one assumes that anyone who'd already formed a spren bond would have noticed that something was different about themselves before going all Supervillain Deathdrap on themselves..Second, while Teft does think that there could be Envisagers still alive he has no idea where they might be or how to contact them. It's likely that this works both ways and any possible survivors wouldn't know about Teft since they weren't part of 'his' group. One other possibility worth considering: Of any of the Envisagers did become a proto-Radiant, the nature of their bond might become an issue when it comes to seeking revenge. We know there are Orders that would be totally cool with, say, stabbing a bastard in the eye so we can't be sure that revenge is completely incompatable with all ten Orders but it's something worth thinking about. But the idea of a generally crazy proto-Radiant is certainly interesting as a conflict hook, whether it's aimed at Teft or not.
+Extesian he/him
I've wondered if they began with stories from Scadrial of Snapping. Seems unlikely a Worldhopper would tell them about that but not be Cosmere-aware enough to know the difference with Rosharan magic but the idea reminds me too much of Snapping. I guess that's a Cosmere-wide phenomenon to some extent so could be from anywhere. Including Rosharan lore. I feel like they're a plot point more than just character building or world building though so I suspect we'll see more of them.
StormblessDave
Yeah, that's true, however wouldn't someone (maybe another child)who saw all his family betrayed by a boy Teft have enough anger to bond with a spren that condones revenge? I'm sure there have to be envisagers left, all of them being wiped out at once strikes me as odd.
IAreNelson
My guess as to why the Envisagers put themselves in danger was misinterpretation. They likely heard that spren came to those who needed it (those who were broken). They took that to mean that if their lives were in danger, a spren would come save them. It's a very simple but drastic misinterpretation.

Szeth, I guess.
