You mean, gain the ability to use all ten variations of surgebinding? Sure, you would just need a few of the Honorblades. Via what I consider to be the natural method, by bonding spren, I don't think so. At least five ideals would likely contain too many contradictions to maintain.

Assuming of course you can bond more than one shardblade otherwise the max is 6 (your spren and two Honor blades held maybe more if you have a weird harness or something)

You don't need to have an Honorblade materialized to surgebind. I think that as long as you dismissed it, you have its power, as Szeth performed lashing with his Honorblade dismissed during the assassination of the king of Jah Keved.

I said If you can't bond more than one Blade :) Which if that proves true I think it will be interesting to see who has it now because it eliminates all Radiants

You could bond multiple spren, and in Wok prime Amaram had two Shardblades, so I strongly doubt that restriction exists.

Hmmm I wonder how since doesn't the cracks of a person's soul become filled with the Nahel Bond?

Also thanks for the Prime info I don't know how much carried over but we shall see I guess!

I saw multiple people saying there was a WoB on it somewhere. Happy hunting! :)

I'd have to find the WoB but yes. The main issue is that you'd have to uphold the bonds of both orders. Depending on the types of spren and how far advanced in the Oaths you are, this would most likely become prohibitively difficult.

You're basically bonding it if you're holding it, I don't think there's any different.

You holding it is not binding it, but you might not need to bond the Honor blades to use their surges

I'll try to find the WoB but he used to say you can't bond an honor blade.

He later clarified that anyone holding an Honorblade is "bonded" to it, so you can will it away. But if I understand correctly, dropping an Honorblade severs the bond.

So you could theoretically "bond" all 10.

By bonding I mean being able to dismiss and summon the blade, which Szeth can do.

Maybe if there was a captain over all of the NR he or she would have all ten

More accurately, my opinion is that a connection is formed to the Honorblade granting surgebinding powers and the ability to dismiss it when it's being held. This connection is maintained when dismissed, as you dismissed it. I think you could form multiple connections to multiple Honorblades at the same time, therefore allowing for ability to use all ten variations of surgebinding with ten Honorblades.

@Spoolofwhool that's how I understand it as well.

@Pagerunner not sure how to link straight to it but I searched theoryland for "spren multiple" and this is the first result.

    QUESTION

Can someone bond more than one Honorblade?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

Honorblade? You can't bond an Honorblade, though it can be given to you. Shardblades, however, come from a spren bond and it is possible to bond more than one.

You open the Singing/Interview (in this case: WoR Signing Report - Talenelat)

You search for the question you want to quote (it's number 26 this time)

You append a #26 to the URL, making it: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1086#26

And this link takes you directly to the question, so you add it to your post.

Look at the URL when you click the Notification that I quoted you. It'll have a #comment-564404 at the end of it, which takes you directly to this post

I haven't been following this thread that closely, but it looks like this is talking about something different. Bonding multiple Shardblades doesn't mean being a member of different Orders; it means a Shardbearer could have two Blades. The "multiple spren bonds" referenced aren't the ones that let you Surgebind, just the ones that let you summon a Shardblade.

Didn't Bran San later clarify that he was mistaken there and we can bond to more than one honor blade?

I don't think just holding a honorblade counts as bonding to it, does it? Kaladin held the honor blade for a lot of time until he reached Dalinar in Uirithiru, and we don't see his stormlight or any of his lashings acting any different from before.

He held a blade that granted the same abilities he got from Syl. What would it change for him?
