Lord Bookwyrm he/him
OK (I really like that word, don't I?), so I've been wondering about different types (?) of Investiture and how they interact. Contrary to what the title may suggest, Interaction and Interruption are not two new theoretical shards. So, if someone were to burn chromium or nicrosil (leecher and nicroburst), and they were touching, say, a KR, would their surgebinding be boosted or their Stormlight to be destroyed? Similar is if someone was a duralumin/aluminium gnat and were able to use another type of Investiture related magic, would the magic be boosted/destroyed? If a soulbearer ferring (nicrosil - stores Investiture) were to be able to use another type of magic, would they be able to convert the focus into Investiture and then tap it as another type, like metal? Because then you could take metal and convert it to Investiture, then convert it to Stormlight, which is non-existant on Scadrial. Thus, a KR could use surgebinding on Scadrial without any Stormlight, as long as they were a soulbearer ferring. I get the feeling that I've missed something out, so feel free to add anything if you want to. Edited May 15, 2017 by Lord Bookworm
Gizmosowner he/him
Well hemalurgy can be used everywhere in the cosmere and can steal numerous abilities from different magic systems so I think it can be somewhat safe to say that other magic systems would work semi similar. also I'm probably wrong because I am always wrong. Argent he/him
Honestly, most of those would probably work. The thing is, often times there are non-obvious requirements to using magic - certain Spiritual Connections, a proper mindset, even good old DNA. So, sure, one of the extremely rare Radiants who also happens to be an extremely rare nicrosil Ferring, and has figured out a way to get their spren off-world (are you aware of the problems involved in getting a spren away from Roshar?), yeah, the might be able to get Stormlight on demand. But, as Brandon has started asking us in recent months, do you really care about what's possible in the Cosmere? Because, in theory, almost anything is possible. Isn't the plausibility question a more interesting one?

Case in point, I recall that someone asked Brandon about the possibility of creating a death ray via Lightweaving and the paraphrased answer was 'Yes, but it would require so much Stormlight as to be completely impractical'. 4 hours ago, Lord Bookworm said: So, if someone were to burn chromium or nicrosil (leecher and nicroburst), and they were touching, say, a KR, would their surgebinding be boosted or their Stormlight to be destroyed? Brandon has generally RAFO'd questions like this (I got my first RAFO for one of them xD) but we do have WoB that someone who was really good with aluminum could cleanse their body of the effects of other Investiture and the Words of Radiance broadsheet carries a story where a Leecher manages to at least temporarily disable what appears to be a Shade-powered gun. Assuming we can take that at face value, these interactions are more or less confirmed to work to at least some extent.
