I have experienced this on multiple devices/browsers, so I don't think it is just me, to answer the obvious question first.

The buttons that tabulate the various portions of the site (News, Forums, Shardcast, Gallery, Chat, WIki, Links) extend below where they appear to end, so when I click what should be the subforum chain right beneath it (usually to go back to, say, Cosmere Theories from a particular thread), it takes me to the Shardcast. It is much more common on mobile, where it is more difficult to avoid.

I attached a screenshot of this. I put the cursor on where the red dot is in the screenshot, and as you can see, there is an orange bar under Shardcast, so if I clicked that, I would expect to go to 17th Shard Discussion, but would end up looking at the Shardcast. It's really annoying when I forget about it and just click it quickly. And yes, before anyone asks, I am putting the pixel that actually clicks on that spot, not the center of the cursor. I am at least that computer literate.

I can confirm that the mapping problems happen on both my devices, one mobile and one desktop, so it isn't just you.

That happens to me all the time. Mostly on my laptop, but that's cause I hardly ever use any other device to access this site.

This happens to me all the time on my iPad. I just thought I was missing the subforum button.

This is a known issue, I'm sure Eric will be along in a minute to explain specifics, but the images of the Radiant glyphs have something to do with it. I think the dimensions of the images are too large?

As long as it is a known issue, I guess I'm cool with it. Better over-reported, I guess, than under. I don't really need specifics. I NEED ACTION!!!1! XD

But in all seriousness, you folks are busy, and this is pretty minor. It just pisses me off occasionally. It's not like the site is broken, there is just a poorly designed button on the loose. Upvotes aren't magically being converted into downvotes for no reason, after all.

Yeah, I don't really know how to fix this without totally changing how those icons are displayed. It's pretty tedious CSS.

REJOICE all. I got fed up with this terribleness and finally asked for help, and @Kurkistan delivered.

The icons no longer do this.

If you were fed up with it, trust me, my neurotic tendencies of wanting everything on 17S to be perfect died every time it did it to me. My apologies on the delay.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I did make several attempts and it was horrible, but thankfully Kurkistan had an elegant solution. I'm very happy.

What was the solution?

Not to contradict Chaos, but it wasn't quite "elegant." Simple, sure, but a bit unsatisfying since I'm still unsure of the root cause of the issue.

There's something odd going on with the icons (which are technically characters in a custom font library, to give you a hint of how deep the rabbit hole goes) where they think they're much taller than they should be. Nothing could be done to convince them otherwise, so we just threw an overflow: hidden; onto the parent element and washed our hands of the matter.
