Clone self or Bilocate

Hi all. This is my first post and i cant say I have read everything here but i have read alot of cool ideas and then got hit with this one. I just finished AofL.  So what if, instead of removing Miles' metalminds and shooting him to death, they guillotined him down the middle and saw if the two halves healed into wholes.

I dont think that is much of a stretch since he can take bullets to the brain. The cloning part.

The next part is a stretch but its cool. What if, when he burned Gold the two copies of himself shared a mind?

I mean technically this would represent a significant fork in the road of life for each one.

I realise the holes in this, personally i dont really think the person you see when burning gold is real, otherwise you would also see them when they burned gold and not just when you do. Plus when miles burned gold he saw himself as an unsatisfied lawmaker, however presumably back when he was an unsatisfied lawmaker he also burned gold, and presumably saw something else.

But the Bilocation idea would be awesome and you never know until you try right? either way you could make a copy of yourself to be besties with which I am hoping is an origional idea here.

About Miles from Alloy of Law and his regenerative powers. If he was bisected down the middle and the halves were separated immediately before the healing process could begin, would the two halves each regrow into a whole Miles?

Brandon Sanderson

Good question. In all of the Cosmere's Shard-based magics, the greater portion of a bisected body regrows the lesser portion. If it were done EXACTLY halfway, the soul wold jump to one or the other randomly and that would regrow.

Amusingly, this first came up in 1999, six years before I got published. (I see someone else already mentioned the situation where I had to consider it.)

Cutting in half wouldn't clone, but I'm not sure what you mean with "bilocation"

Stormlight Archives spoiler

Spoiler

So basically what happens when a set of shardplate is divided between two parties each trying to grow it with stormlight. Interesting I wonder if this means that shardplate has a significant spiritual which is attracted by stormlight.

Good WoB. This also answers my question of where regeneration would occur if beheaded as well.

@Spoolofwhool Well you could just ask the Lord Ruler about beheading...

So... wait a sec, the Lord Ruler got decapitated at one point...

What did he do with the severed head? Mount it on the wall?

Actually, I just want to say, it could be possible for a Bloodmaker or the like to be actually cloned. It would be fairly complicated though. Step one would involve getting cut in half spiritually, cognitively and physically at the same time. Step two would require an essence mark to be applied to each half immediately. Step three is to start the healing, immediately as the other steps.

So basically you would have a person cut in half on all three realms, then you would use the essence mark to manipulate their spiritual identity into being whole and use it to manipulate their cognitive while still healing them.... IDK. Doesn't seem very possible. Should ask Brandon, he would be entertained.
