Hurt Melody, heal David

1. David--16
2. Megan--19
3. Cody--17
9. Joel--17
10. Melody--16
17. Stephen Leeds--15

I shouldn't have said Cody was winning, for everyone was basically ignoring him before.

Daniyah, why are you hurting Cody? Cmon! Hurt Stephen Leeds! (Whoever that is)

Leeds is from the Legion books. He's got a bunch of hallucinations, he's a very interesting character. It's a shame so many are hunting for him.

Also, I think I might have ninja'd you

Yes, I fixed it. I think.

Hm. I haven't read the Legion books yet, but they're on my to-read list!

I wholeheartedly agree with Patar, Stephen is a fascinating character. Legion is certainly worth a read and worth the price, despite not taking much time to go through (both novellas back-to-back took me less than two hours to read, IIRC).

On that note, heal Stephen, hurt... David, I guess? All low-point combatants seem to have been elliminated at this point...

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS!!

All righty. We have six characters left, most at about the same point levels. Here's a quick overview, because I don't want you to vote for Stephen Leeds.

David, the protagonist of Reckoners. A quirky dude who says bad metaphors, kills epics, and should have died at the end of Calamity.

Megan, David's epic girlfriend, who has a a great redemption arc throughout Firefight, has cool powers, and will shoot you. Ouch.

Cody, a Wayne/Kaz-esque character from Reckoners. He's funny, can snipe someone at five hundred yards, and believes in ear demons.

Joel, the protagonist of Rithmatist. He's a wannabe who can do math, bullies Melody, and has colorful, though non-magical, chalk.

Melody, Joel's friend who can draw magical death unicorns. Need I say more?

Finally, Stephen Leeds. A detective who's not as funny as Shawn Spencer, not as weird as L, and not as Wayne as Wayne. Don't vote for him.

*bows*

(In short, if you want the  Best Non Cosmere Character, vote Megan. If you really like the Rithmatist, vote for Melody. If you are crying because Wayne isn't in this, vote Cody.)

I actually like Cody. I just hurt him for Megan to get more HPs than him :P

I'll continue to defend Stephen!

Stephen Leeds is a highly intelligent individual, but his mind cannot function at such a high level. In order to make up for this, his brain created Aspects, which are compartments of his brain represented by several hallucinations. Each hallucination is an expert on various subjects. I forget how many there are, but I think I remember there being several dozen. Each of these aspects has some kind of mental disorder, and many think that if Stephen didn't see these aspects, he himself would have those disorders. He can do incredible things with the aspects, such as unconsciously reading a book and creating an aspect with all the knowledge of what happened in the book.

So I'd actually go on a limb and say he IS more quirky than L. And well, no one is as Wayne as Wayne. Each of the remaining characters are great in their own right, but the story and psychology of Stephen are vastly more interesting than any of these characters, at least in my opinion. I really wish more people would read Legion, I truly think it's one of Brandon's best works.

Well, I never thought he was bad, after all, Brandon wrote him. I just never saw him or his aspects as interesting as Reckoners or Other Brandon works' characters.

Also, nobody is as weird as L. I won't believe it.

WayneSpren, Stephen has bought and struggles to maintain a giant forty-odd-room mansion because each of his hallucinations wants to have its own room and they turn into monsters if he tries cramping them all into his basement. He does not have any friend that could be empirically proved to exist. He's a specialist in over thirty different professions, but only because he has all those specialists crammed into his head. He can become an expert in any given field within hours without even paying attention to stuff he's learning. He regularly botches his dates because facets of his mind keep on interrupting him. He becomes incapable of deciphering human body language when his specialist on this topic is left behind - oh, and his hallucinations can be left behind, because apparently they can't teleport where he goes, so he has to drive giant cars to fit them in. His aspects have psychological issues of their own, and let's not even get into spoiler-level stuff! Frankly, I'm pretty sure if there was weirdness competition, Stephen would certainly win with L.

On that note, hurt David.

Ok, maybe @Rasarr is right. But I was more talking about how weird the character's own personality is, not his powers. And I do define Stephen's hallucinations as a "power".

Spooooooooilers!!

I pretend the book ends with him pushing the Oblito-button, and then maybe Megan's PoV or Prof's for an epilogue, maybe Obliteration. He's being really dramatic and stuff, and I'm getting chills, and he says

My name is David Charleston.

I kill epics.

And he sacrifices himself to kill Calamity and save the world.

But no, instead Calamity stops the blast, and we get this thing about how Calamity thinks humans are all evil, and David changes his mind. Then he gets superpowers. Which is good and all, but I just love me a good heroic sacrifice. -_-

So...yeah. I still like him, but I'd probably be voting for him if we'd got the ending I wanted. But, I guess if we expect the ending, it's not as fun.

*tangent over*

Edit: I...I've been downvoted.  What have I done to deserve this, cruel world? Nooooo...
