Hidy ho all,

I just recently saw suicide squad, and I actually rather enjoyed it.  I wasn't a big fan of the joker, but that was my only peeve with it.  And enjoyed it overall.  But all the reviews and critics say it was a mess, and just not worth seeing.  Anyone else enjoy the movie?

I thought it was great. People told me that they spent too much time on character development, but those were some of my favorite parts.

I feel that this move was a lot more "comic book" like, whereas the Christopher Batman/Joker was a portrayal of the characters in "our" world.  As soon as I realized this, it was easier for me to "buy in" to the comic book style characters.

Plus Margot Robbie

This is the first and only time I have ever believed that studio involvement ruined the film.

There's plenty to like about it, but the editing was sooo weird! I didn't get enough Joker to form an opinion and Harley Quinn seemed to be shoehorned into most of her scenes...Like the editor decided, "we haven't seen her in a minute, let's add a scene with her saying something!" Like they were trying to make the Suicide Squad movie into a Harley Quinn movie but didn't really have the shots to do so properly.

Also, the studios need to realize that not every conflict has to threaten the world.

Very much this. A world ending plot is completely at odds with the tone and setup for a Suicide Squad movie.

A small scale, black ops style supervillain flick? Cool, that'll be a very unique vibe!

...but that's not what e git which...undermines the impact of the film some. It turned what should have been something very different into just another superhero movie.

I do agree, that whole apocalypse was a bit overdone.  Just the brother/sister tag team of taking over the city would have been enough to send in that group.

I did like the end of the movie though.

I felt the joker was way too obsessed with Harley though.  What few of the comics I read, and heard about, and the cartoon I watched, he always treated her like a tool to be used and discarded.  Never really falling in love with her.  That and the whole using people and money to get what he wanted, instead of using psycological terror, and laughing gas, made him feel like more of a Lex Luthor type of villan.

Though for all that, he was a super villain.  Able to survive absurd situations, able to do things nobody else can do, able to bypass or buy the police (therefore needing a vigilante to take him down).  He hit all the check boxes to be a super villain.

BvS turned me off these new DC hardcore so I refuse to go to movies for these now. I ll wait for HBO or the others to get to see it. Yea it's getting trashed pretty bad though. Most people who loved BvS love this and vice vs I'm reading about. So I want to see it in an environment where I can pause and break.
