I totally thought the same thing, which is why I didn't think it was Dalinar either. I mean, it makes sense if it IS Dalinar, but the coloring threw me off. Interesting.... Erklitt she/her Posted July 23, 2016 Report Share Posted July 23, 2016 I'm absolutely not into the who's who of cover art, but I remember reading that artist is very well known and it was Brandon's dream to have him one day paint the cover for a book of his. If I look hard enough I swear the spearman is wearing a blue coat. But what interests me the most is the sigil on the Cape. The bacground figure's holding a spear and has a shield strapped on their back, which IIRC was Kal's get-up when he was distracting the archers. Eccentric Hero he/him Posted July 28, 2016 Report Share Posted July 28, 2016 IIRC the scene is of Dalinar looking at Eshonai and Michael Whelan, who did the art, mistakenly gave him the wrong cape color but Brandon didn't complain because a Whelan cover was a dream of his. Kaladin definitely did not have a spear while using the Parshendi bones as armor. There is no way a bridgeman would have been allowed to be armed.
