Sixth of the Dusk Origin?

So looking back through Brandons website I found that he used to do blog posts in which he would post random ideas. One of which involved "Feather magic". I wonder if this idea morphed over time in his mind to eventually become the basis for the sixth of the dusk magic system.

Have you read the anthology it was originally included in -- Shadows Beneath? It has transcriptions of the Writing Excuses brainstorming sessions, alpha group reviews, and rough drafts included in it. IIRC, I think it started out as telepathic birds, or something along those lines. The Writing Excuses podcasts should be available online so you can listen in on them.
