Tony Shark he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I just stayed up till 5 O'clock finishing Words of Radiance. Already my mind has been bamboozled by how Brandon has managed to make all the stories connect, I noticed references from Warbreaker, and was that Demoux at the Purelake? I started reading my first Cosmere book last December, and I have read almost non stop to try to connect what I can. Please tell my the things that have blown your mind as you have read though these wonderful books! 1
Nashan’Elin he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 It wasn't only Demoux, it was also Galladon and Baon (from White Sand) at the Purelake 1

Bowiespoon he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Wow, you noticed Demoux on your 1st pass of WoR??? Okay, Hemalurgy can be used (although the process is unknown) to steal powers from any magic system. The ghostbloods contain at least 2 worldhoppers Odium was the one who killed the shards Devotion and Dominion, who lived on Sel (Elantris). You may have noticed many bodies of water with special properties, these are shardpools (Horneater peaks, well of ascension, the pool there elantrians could die an excruciating death by being ripped apart by the chaotic forces of the shattered shards, and Patji's eye) some characters have used them to hop worlds Hoid has a grudge against Rayse(Odium) Harmony might very well be the strongest entity in the cosmere at the moment. Odium is making plans to deal with Harmony 1
Bugsy he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) Sorry, it uploaded my post twice..... I'll remove it to be easier on the eyes You can hit the hide button if you like, it'll remove your post from view Back on topic: The number 16 has ramifications outside of the Mistborn universe (Adonalsium was split into 16 Shards) There's a strange band of red stars that is present in (almost?) all cosmere books and seems to be linked to Trell Trell is a God of one of the religions mentioned by Sazed in the first book The purelake religion bears strange resemblance to Trellism All magic systems work through manipulation of the cognitive aspect Hoid appears in almost every book in the cosmere Roshar's moons are infused gemstones + roshar is artificial (I think this is confirmed, at least) Spren are cognitive aspects that are invested enough to manifest themselves in the physical realm Edited March 27, 2016 by Bugsy6912 1
Bowiespoon he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Roshar's moons are infused gemstones + roshar is artificial (I think this is confirmed, at least) Wait, Seriously!? Has there been a WoB on this? 1
Bugsy he/him Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Wait, Seriously!? Has there been a WoB on this? Not sure about WoB, but I've ran across a couple threads in which it was regarded as a given. I'll try and find a WoB if possibleETA: So, a quick search returned no WoBs. It appears I may have been mistaken, my apologies ETA2: I was confused as to what was confirmed and what wasn't, someone said that Peter confirmed Roshar's moons were artificial here and I grossly misinterpreted it to mean roshar was artificial, and that it's moons were gemstones. Apologies again, didn't mean to spread false information ETA3: Very off topic, but anyone know why that HTML didn't work? ETA4: So, apparently even the artificial status of the moons wasn't confirmed. In reality, it was suggested that their orbits are artificial. I done screwed up Edited March 30, 2016 by Bugsy6912 1

Ari he/him Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 There's also Mraize collecting invested objects, everything that's going on in Mistborn: Secret History, (which you might not have been counting- if you want your mind blown with cosmere stuff, read it!) the mystery in Alloy's series as to which Shard Trell is, the hints as to what happened on Elantris, (it looks pretty likely that the sky in the Cognitive Realm broke open and spilled a bunch of power into it) As to HTML- it's very rarely that boards let you use real HTML for formatting. This one uses pretty standard BBcode, which is somewhat similar but with a few more intuitive markup names and square brackets. Press the buttons in the editor for examples and you'll pick it up fast enough. 1
