NightBlood is made out of Ventablack

Shardblades are, or at least were, living creatures. Their shape and form is based on their personality and the way they want to be seen. It helps that without weight or balancing they can basically be what they want to be without issue.

Nightblood though? Nightblood is a tool. A weapon first and foremost designed to ruin evil's day. The simplicity and straightforwardness is, in its own way, an expression of Nightblood's personality.

My theory on why Nightblood is so simple is they were trying to awaken an object no one ever had before. they made the sword be the most quintessential "sword" possible striped down to the basic fundamental of what a sword is. a  Sharp blade held on a hilt.

Nightblood is a tool.

And this is why I should read slower, since that didn't come across initially the way you meant it. :-P

I agree, Vantablack is a great image to have in mind for Nightblood.  It's almost sucking in all the light around it.
