Young Bard he/him Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Yes! Non-American spelling is the way! Join us! We have... Storms, that line's been taken already.
Voidus Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Yes! Non-American spelling is the way! Join us! We have... Storms, that line's been taken already. Oh that reminds me, people keep saying 'Don't take the cookie' which should obviously be spelled: 'Take the cookie!' 3
Chaos he/him Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 No plans to alter British spelling to American spellings. It is canonical for the Brits after all, and they have cool accents. 3
Oversleep Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I'm getting confused about internal enhancements metals here... What are the correct spellings?
Chaos he/him Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 It depends if you use American or British English. Americans write aluminum, Brits write aluminium.
Master Elodin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Yes but it's not between duraluminum and duraluminium, it's between duralumin and duraluminum. Edited April 4, 2016 by Master Elodin
Kaymyth she/her Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Yes but it's not between duraluminum and duraluminium, it's between duralumin and duraluminum. Duralumin is correct. The alloy was originally developed on our world by a German zeppelin company for use in building airships. 1
Master Elodin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Duralumin is correct. The alloy was originally developed on our world by a German zeppelin company for use in building airships. Good to know!
Kaymyth she/her Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Good to know! Wow. That is one of the kindest ways of saying, "Kaymyth, why are you full of such ridiculous amounts of useless information?!" that I've ever seen.
Master Elodin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Wow. That is one of the kindest ways of saying, "Kaymyth, why are you full of such ridiculous amounts of useless information?!" that I've ever seen. Maybe you have Allomantic trivia.
Kaymyth she/her Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Maybe you have Allomantic trivia. Nah, I've only got the one spike, and it's for Feruchemical maturity. 1
Master Elodin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Nah, I've only got the one spike, and it's for Feruchemical maturity. It could be a spiked spike.
Kaymyth she/her Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 It could be a spiked spike. I doubt it. . I've always collected weird knowledge like this, ever since I was a kid. And that predates the Mistborn books by a lot.
Master Elodin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I doubt it. . I've always collected weird knowledge like this, ever since I was a kid. And that predates the Mistborn books by a lot. In that case, I got nothin'. Except an interesting fact that you may not know.
Voidus Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I doubt it. . I've always collected weird knowledge like this, ever since I was a kid. And that predates the Mistborn books by a lot. Likewise, though around half of my interesting facts are in fact false, even a few that I got from the readers digest book of facts. Slightly on topic: I use British spelling generally but I say Duralumin, I don't think it's really a british/american thing.
Blaze1616 he/him Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 If we're still taking requests, one of my biggest pet peeves on this site are when people miss spell Iyatil. They read the name as starting with a lowercase "L", but then type it as Lyatil. It's a name! That's a capital "i"! Drives me nuts.
Voidus Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 On a related note: Is there any way to change the shortcut for to something other than b + )? Makes lists really annoying. 3
Chaos he/him Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 On a related note: Is there any way to change the shortcut for to something other than b + )? Makes lists really annoying. That's a good point. I know I can, but let's delay that a bit and remind me until post upgrade. If we're still taking requests, one of my biggest pet peeves on this site are when people miss spell Iyatil. They read the name as starting with a lowercase "L", but then type it as Lyatil. It's a name! That's a capital "i"! Drives me nuts. Good idea. 2
ChickenPlague he/him Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) Lyatil. Test! Edited April 7, 2016 by ChickenPlague
Young Bard he/him Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 If we're still taking requests, one of my biggest pet peeves on this site are when people miss spell Iyatil. They read the name as starting with a lowercase "L", but then type it as Lyatil. It's a name! That's a capital "i"! Drives me nuts. *puts hand up guiltily* I've made this mistake... . Makes me wonder what else I've been spelling wrong. I seem to recall the partner of Demoux (can't recall her name at the moment)/ worldhopper being spelled incorrectly a lot.
Landis963 he/him Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Aslydin, I believe is who they're referring to.
phattemer Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 It's too bad April 1st just passed... spike->cookie/cookie->spike, anyone? 2
