Oversleep Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) Let's discuss some double meanings. For example, double metal can mean both Hemalurgy augmented metal and Compounded metal. But since Hemalurgy is so rare it generally means a Compounded metal. But who is the Hemalurgist? The one doing the Hemalurgy or the one receiving the spike? Edited February 13, 2016 by Oversleep
Stormgate he/him Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Either or both. With the exception of the DA, most practitioners of Hemalurgy have spikes in them as well as pounding spikes into others. I would like to suggest that those who have a spike in them who do not put spikes into others--like Penrod in HOA--be called Hemalurgics.
Oversleep Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 More telling, perhaps, was the fact that when a Hemalurgist used his abilities, it drove the mists away. The closer one came to Ruin, the more under his influence, and the longer one bore his spikes, the more the mists were repelled. Sazed in HoA epigraphs confirms that Hemalurgist is somebody with spikes. But it still could be both meanings.
