Charlie.x.3000 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I think he specifically gave Megan the second highest rank in his organization/city because... Firefight would trigger Steelheart's weakness super easily. Just as she turned Limelight's forcefields on himself, she could turn Steelheart's energy blasts around. And since those energy blasts come from Steelheart and not Firefight... RIP Steelheart. After all, unless Megan just reincarnated, her powers aren't very strong. So for her to reach such a high rank must be because she is basically the one Epic that can easily kill Steelheart.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 On the one hand, I can understand his logic in "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." On the other hand, he strikes me as a little too paranoid to trust Firefight not to trigger his weakness. My theory is that this use of her powers never occurred to him.
Edgedancer he/him Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I myself figured that he just wanted a bodyguard that can't actually hurt him, because her "attacks" aren't real.
Voidus Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I figured that her illusionary powers played perfectly into his plans, she'd easily be capable of making people more afraid of him, she wouldn't be restricted to being Firefight, she could create all manner of illusionary Epics to support Steelheart and scare people.
Patrick Star Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Having such a powerful and versatile illusionist creates the perfect infiltrator and propaganda artist. That's probably why Steelheart hired her.
