Releaser
Here is a compiled together version of the broadsheet from BoM. http://i.imgur.com/R3JENFF.jpg Much easier to read this way. Releaser
I'm very interested in who the worldhopper was in the Allomancer Jak story. The guy she fights uses the curse word "Shadows", refers to a place known as "Helmore", and has a weird runic gun that her chromium Leeching power was able to effect that shot a ghost(?) that rusted and disintegrated the metal around the gondola. Any thoughts on where this person could be from?
thegatorgirl00 she/her
We believe that is Nazh. The end of the Allomancer Jak story mentioned a young white-haired man who offered to tell a story. Was I the only person who read that and thought Hoid? FirstSelector
Not in the slightest - that's almost certainly Hoid. One wonders what was so interesting about a map that Nazh goes to such lengths to reclaim it and then Hoid shows up afterwards.

Also of note: the map of New Seran at the beginning of the book is torn along the left side, as though it were half a map.

It was also commissioned by a Stefan Sauvage, and the last name seems like it is similar to Nikki Savage! Kinda lends credibility to the story and makes me wonder who or what those metal constructs are and when we'll see them.
Senor Feesh
Releaser, you are my hero. Reading this on Kindle was painful. EDIT: So, do your metals talk to YOU? What the rusting hell is that all about? Just a bit of colourful nonsense, or a hint of something to come? VariableT
Senor,Do you think that it's referencing an awakener loose on Scadrial?
Ari he/him
Senor, Do you think that it's referencing an awakener loose on Scadrial? It could be an extremely powerful awakener. It could also be that dying with investiture sitting around in your metalminds has certain consequences...
Shardbearer he/him
Or maybe a spren that took a physical form other than a Shardblade?
Landis963 he/him
Or maybe a spren that took a physical form other than a Shardblade? We've seen several things that it could be, and I've seen a lot of theories regarding these strange talking metal objects. Possibility 1: Sprentools. Possibility 2: Type 4 BioChromatic Entities a la Nightblood. Possibility 3: Things serving as impromptu antennae for Set or SoScad radio. (Yes, it can happen with RL radios)

(Yes, it can happen with RL radios) I wanna say its the simplest answer. Which is tools picking up radio frequencies. But then ppl started making me think it was Kriss asking about them in the ad. Then I said, well, why would Kriss care about stray radio transmissions being picked up by rusty tools? I don't think she would. So, f it is Kriss who placed the ad, she's definitely lookin for something deeper.

My guess then is that some people have had metal tools suddenly start picking up radio transmissions, which in very select circumstances have been audible to humans (the tool just happened to be on a hollow crate that vibrated the right way to generate the sound, for example). K & N, hearing about talking metals and knowing about Nightblood/Spren obviously would want to investigate, even if it turns out to be something mundane. So yeah, I'm gonna assume for now that this was a (rather veiled) hint that the Set had radio technology.

Khriss studies Twinborn at the time the broadsheet is out. I'd say, unless something goes horribly wrong in Book 5 of Stormlight Archive, chances of finding Nightblood (who is NOT a tool) on Scadrial are roughly nil. There is one example of talking to someone via the use of metals on Scadrial - this is how Ruin and Harmony converse with spiked people. I think K and N are trying to discover a special type of Twinborn whose compounding abilities (Connection and ... Soothing/Rioting... or Tineyeing) allow them to talk to Sazed or something else via chunks of metal. Maybe a metalmind that stores Identity behaves this way ("Hi! I am Bob!").... Bottomline - I think we need to look for explanations of "talking tools" on Scadrial, not elsewhere in Cosmere. Bottomline - I think we need to look for explanations of "talking tools" on Scadrial, not elsewhere in Cosmere. You can assume K and N are Kriss & Nazh. It is very likely. I just like to hedge my bets. I agree with you, she is looking for something more than just radio frequencies. RF signals were just the simplest answer for "talking tools". I think the theory for it being RF came from the early posts of the broadsheet ad, before we Knew Kriss was even in the book. But yeah, after reading BoM, that's easily the least likely scenario. Honestly, I'm hesitant to voice predictions about her plans anywhere. All we know is that she is the author of the Ars Arcanum, and she is studying the effects of magics on different shardworlds(please tell me if I'm missing something, because other than White Sands, that's all I know about her lol). Would be pretty awesome if they were trying to find ways to communicate with the surviving Shards. Good thing Brandon writes a lot, because now Scadrial tops my list of most interesting shardworlds, and all I want is more more more. Never thought anything could pull Roshar outta #1.
