Stormgate he/him Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 This is not a topic for compiling figures of speech, this is for coming up with our own, based on any of Sanderson's books. For example, a figure of speech I have thought of for Scadrial is 'burning the midnight Bendalloy'. Do with this what you will. 2
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 "Pulsing time" to talk about getting through something boring or time consuming. 1
iBambam Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I like this topic, you could say, it's rioted my curiosity? That was lame, I know
Stormgate he/him Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 As lame as a lighteyes' honor. 1
iBambam Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 When very drunk you could say the room is spinning so bad I feel like I've been lashed to the wall
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I like this topic... it's making me think! I'd think on Scadrial especially, the metallic arts would be come similes and metaphors for thought and writing. Other options: "Sitting with gold" to think about reflecting on your past. "He was putting food away like a subsumer on a bender" "She smoked him" to talk about helping someone disappear I'll think some on other worlds now too 2
natc Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 We need more Nalthian ones. The stuff we see spouted about color from Z is pretty amusing.
Khyrindor he/him Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 We need more Nalthian ones. The stuff we see spouted about color from Z is pretty amusing. "Don't be green from the ground."
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Couple of Sel (Rose Empire) ones: "He's as firm as ralkalest" - talking about someone who is unchanging or stubborn Conversely, "they are like soulstone beneath my chisel." Couple of Nalthis... I could see "drab" being just a generally used derogatory term. "That's drab" to mean something that is boring, without vigor, weak, irritable. Also "grey" as something that is drained or empty. "My account is grey this week." or "The pot's gone grey". 1
