Tybou_14 Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 I personally hope it's not some typical dragon. I would much rather it be a unique species made by Brandon that may have dragonlike qualities.
Aether he/him Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) I wouldn't mind if it was a "proper" Dragon. He has been consistently novel and original in his writing, almost so much show that a Dragon would be a welcome break! Also, DRAGON! SQUEEEE!!!!!! Edited January 20, 2014 by Aether

I agree, with the addendum that, however much it might end up looking like a "typical dragon," I have faith that Mr. Sanderson's dragons will be novel, unique, and fascinating in a way that blows my mind.
bartbug he/him Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Hey, that's a good question. What are the dragons like? Of course, it would probably be RAFO'd, but at least then we would know that they probably aren't stereotypical fantasy beasts. Then again, knowing Brandon, that's gauranteed anyways.
little wilson she/her Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) If he does any more signings down in Utah Valley before the Words of Radiance release, I'll try to get a direct answer out of him on this. Recorded. Just so we have exactly what he says. I personally believe that Hoid's writing to REDACTED, because it simply makes the most sense, but I'll try to get direct confirmation on it. And that he (the Dragon) is from Yolen. And on Yolen. Of course, if he doesn't have anything until WoR, it's anyone's game then (or, at least anyone who goes to the release). Tamzin Ashevai she/her Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I read this in the tor.com re-read commentary of TWoK and was was immensely pleased. Nevertheless, it's kind of a shock as I think about the impact of dragons in other fantasy series. Foremost amongst these is Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy in which Lore features prominently. Anyway, I'm so happy that Brandon revealed this tidbit (and suspected as much, given the "lizard" reference).
AerionBFII he/him Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I think it was written by Hoid but i don't know who it was addressed to. The old reptile bit makes me think of Dragonsteel.... 2
GreyPilgrim he/him Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I think it was written by Hoid but i don't know who it was addressed to. The old reptile bit makes me think of Dragonsteel.... It is confirmed both to be written by Hoid and also to be addressed to a dragon. Look back in the thread a bit. 1

Asperity he/him Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Nah, Sanderson isn't the type to give out false info. What he does do is give out so much info during interviews and Q&As and signings and the like that there's no way to remember everything. Seriously, we could fill an entire novel with what we know purely from non-book Word of God and we're maybe what, 15% into the Cosmere or not even that. TWENTY MORE YEARS OF THIS. WHEN WILL WE CRACK
Swimmingly he/him Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Umm... Significantly more than twenty I believe, if his estimates + the fairly strong possiblity of split-off projects like the AoL era Mistborn books are true.
bartbug he/him Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I suspect that 1 main cosmere book a year is about right, and seeing as there's about 30 left, I'd say that there will be about thirty more years of cosmere goodness. Other books, like AoL or Steelheart, don't factor into this.
