Ever since "The Gathering Storm" was published I have been following the books and stories of Mr. Sanderson with great interest. Fantasy is my chosen genre for fanfiction writing.

If it is fantasy I have read it no matter the universe or show genre. Twice to date as of today I have met him in person and had at least one book signed twice at the Idaho Falls Barnes and Noble at the Grand Teton Mall.

Welcome! If anyone offers cookies to you don't accept them, its got quite the unusual recipe we'll say :P

I've been a Drow, Demon, Elf, Dracolich, Goddess, Astral Panther and Planeswalker. So I think I will survive any foods eaten without dying. Thanks for asking but even more for welcoming me here.

The previous post link of mine is to prove I am a real person who does not spam.

Brandon made me start reading again, fantastic writer.

Would an expert recommend some books then?

Anyway, welcome, have fun and a hemalurgical spike cookie.

Drow? Is that some form of mix between a Crow and a Deer?

Welcome to the 17th Shard! Do you want a cookie? I know that the icing makes it look metallic, but it's really good!

No lol.

Drow (Dark Elf) are known in the Forgotten Realms book series world, the "Dark Warrior Rising" series by Ed Greenwod and also surprisingly enough as one of the new races in  the Might and Magic computer game series (previously known as Heroes of might and Magic.)

Besides Brandon, for fantasy I also read Terry Brooks, R. A. Salvatore, Jim Butcher, Chris Heimerdinger, Ed Greenwood, David Eddings, Katherine Kurtz, JRR Tolkien and numerous other authors.

I always preferred Warhammers name for them, Druchii. Just thought it had a better ring to it.

Anyway...

Are you artistic at all?

Ooh! Have you read the Silmarillion?

Ah, very nice! I don't meet people who have read more than LotR very often. There are a couple around on the forums, though, which is nice.

Which is your favorite Sanderson book?

Posted

Besides "The Gathering Storm" "Tower of Midnight" and "A Memory of Light" obviously, I must go with his Mistborn and Stormlight Archive series.

For favorite book, each of the books in the "Stormlight Archive."

I am known to reread multiple fantasy series and authors several times a year alone.

I don't do as much rereading nowadays. I maybe reread Sanderson once a year (usually before a book release) and then random other books from my childhood. And I'm rereading the Silmarillion right now, because I don't want to read Turin's tale in the Book of Lost Tales (2), so I'm procrastinating a little bit on that.

Well, that seems a bit pointless, no offense. I mean, you can only read one at a time, and unless your library's checkout time is super long, you can't possibly manage to read 50 in a month during work/school time. Not that I haven't come away from a library with 20 books, but mine has a 3 week turnover and I usually don't renew. Usually I get into a pattern of going there every two weeks, basically.

Happily, our library has no limit on number of books, so if I do want to check out more than fifty (if I'm reading and doing a research project, say), I can.

Very nice. I tend to get nearer that speed when reading non-Sanderson books, but when I'm reading Sanderson (particularly Stormlight), I slow down to try to catch interesting things for theorycrafting and such.

Posted

I only slow down when reading a book the very first time.

But I taught this skill to myself beginning in junior high to help cope with the higher amount of reading in school and nearest library vicinity to date at time.

Regarding posting images:  I've noticed that the extension type error actually has to do with trying to copy the image directly into your post.  If you can upload it either to the gallery here, or to a site like Photobucket, you can then use the Image button on the posting console to slap the link in and voila!  You will have an image.  You do have to use the button for it to work properly, though.

For some reason posting a link to a YouTube video, though, just embeds it automatically.  I don't know why.  (Chaos probably does, but it's a silly enough question I haven't wanted to waste his time with it.)

Ok what then is the precise process to upload images to one's gallery here?

Um...click on "Gallery" up at the top of the page and then click on the "Upload" button?  I don't know, I haven't actually done it myself.
