loganmathewjohnson Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) I noticed (while looking at the Alloy of Law map of Elendel) a small annotation in the bottom right corner, by a character named Nazh. I have never heard of 'Nazh' but I believe that he may be the third man at the Purelake, Blunt by name. Blunt is from Taldain, I believe, and I'm curious, what does anyone else know about either Blunt or Nazh. Chime in, please!! EDIT: Fixed a typo Edited January 2, 2014 by loganmathewjohnson
bartbug he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Nope. Not Blunt. I would tell you more, but then I'd have to kill you.
little wilson she/her Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 bartbug is correct. Nazh is not Blunt. At this point, we don't know who he is (I don't think), although he has at least one more map that I know of in the artwork in Words of Radiance, and something else in there too. So he's a world-hopper, that much is certain. But as for who? No idea.
Aether he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I believe most of us who've read White Sand - unless Brandon makes some major changes - are rather certain of who Blunt is. Nazh is a separate Worldhopper.
loganmathewjohnson Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Grrr!!! Haha, oh well. I'd like to get a look at White Sand sometime... Do we have any idea when he's planning to revise it?
bartbug he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I always thought that Nazh was some inside name or whatever for the guy who IRL draws the maps. Could be wrong, though.
loganmathewjohnson Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Oh, that's a possibility too. It seems unlikely though, because in the map for AoL, it says 'My friend, Annotated with locations as per your instructions.' That seems more like another Worldhopper (Hoid, perhaps, or a Shard Member) needed a map of Elendel.
Oudeis he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 The Elendel map was drawn by Isaac Stewart. Zach is a common nickname of Isaac. Zach/Nazh? I mean it's a stretch but... maybe? He's written friends into bit-parts in his stories before; maybe Isaac asked to be some random world-hopper who doesn't actually show up in books, he just draws maps.
Shardlet he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Isaac already has an in-world analog in SA, Isasik Shulin, the Royal Cartographer. 4
Aether he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) Concerning White Sand, check out the latest "State of Sanderson" for info about his future projects. Specifically, "Some fun things are happening here, but [brandon] can’t really talk about them right now." EDIT: Removed a random space in the middle of "Sanderson". Edited January 2, 2014 by Aether
loganmathewjohnson Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Got it. That's probably my favorite thing about Sanderson- He's relatively young, for a writer, and still has plenty of time to do everything on that list. Man is a genius. 1
Oudeis he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Isaac already has an in-world analog in SA, Isasik Shulin, the Royal Cartographer. Ooooo... I missed that. I assume this has been confirmed, not just a coincidence of names?
Shardlet he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I thought we had a direct confirmation, but I don't see one anywhere. That being said, I think it is very unlikely to be a coincidence.
loganmathewjohnson Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Yeah, probably not. It says as much on the Coppermind, but the source is uncited...
Oudeis he/him Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Until presented with facts to the contrary, I choose to believe it, anyway.
loganmathewjohnson Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Yeah, I think that someone put it on the Coppermind for a reason, they just didn't cite their source. It's probably true.
GreyPilgrim he/him Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Man is a genius. Of course, this goes without saying if you're a member here!
Windrunner he/him Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Well, given the fact that Isaac is Isasik Shulin on Twitter, I think we can call this one confirmed. 3
Oudeis he/him Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Well, given the fact that Isaac is Isasik Shulin on Twitter, I think we can call this one confirmed. I'm searching twitter... I don't see it...
Shardlet he/him Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Well, given the fact that Isaac is Isasik Shulin on Twitter, I think we can call this one confirmed. I think it just means that Isaac is a fanboy! Seriously though, I agree.
loganmathewjohnson Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Yep. I vote confirmed. I also vote Stewart as a fanboy.
