It isn't physical, as bridge 4 is keeping watch and they don't see anything. But they don't see Syl or the deathspren either, so I wonder what realm Kaladin is seeing. It seems ironic since she seems to hate shardblades. IIRC it doesn't resemble other Shardblades, but it wouldn't have to as it would be a different type.

Swimmingly he/him Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) There has been some speculation that a KR can "extract" a Shardblade from their Nahel Bond, giving them a very personally attuned blade - perhaps they must say a certain number of the Ideals first, or maybe just have a good relationship with their spren. Anyway, it's possible that Syl's blade here is the "protoKRblade", that is, a sort of seed, currently held by Syl, that can grow into the full Shardblade. The one issue I have with it is that if it is, as Swimmingly notes, a protoKRblade then it is in essence still a regular Shardblade just at an earlier stage. Still it is definitely a plausible idea. The current top theories for the 3 type of blade are: 1/ Honorblades, KR Sharblades, Szeth's blade 2/ Honorblades, Ancient KR Blades, Modern Shardblades (in this case Szeth carries an Honorblade) Presumably if your idea is correct and Syl's blade is the 3rd type, then Szeth would be carrying an Honorblade in your scenario as well.
