Edgedancer he/him Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Now I just want to see a scene where Nighthound just walks through a body of water without bothering to hold his breath. Maybe if Lucentia brings him back to Astoria at some point, he can walk across the bay. Could he survive in space? I'm guessing he couldn't do much once he's up there, but if he can regenerate from the cold and lack of air, I see no reason why he couldn't... Lava though... Shiny Sparkle or Funtimes wouldn't be interested in a field trip would they? If Nighthound was actually planning to stay under water, not holding his breath and getting his lungs flooded would help to counteract his buoyancy. Of course, getting the water out of his loungs would be quite the pain. I also see no reason for it to kill him... the lack of anything happening would drive him insane overtime though, I guess. Sadly, Shiny Sparkle would not be interested in a field trip towards a vulcano.

The basic idea seems simple, on impact inject destructive magic stuff into the target but that sounds like a bit of an imprecise power description. Like just blowing up things that you punch? I have about a million of those. 1

Kobold King he/him Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 It occurs to me that the Reckoners books are about a teenage protagonist falling in love with a mysterious fellow teenager who happens to belong to race of nigh-immortal creatures who consider themselves apex predators, while villainous unkillable beings haunt the background. The Reckoners are an exceptionally well-written twist on Twilight. 4

At least when Brandon Sanderson goes out of his way to describe a character's abs, it's only to emphasize Steelheart's god-like figure and appearance. 1

I'm having difficulty imagining Steelheart ripping off his shirt and shouting "THIS IS THE SKIN OF A KILLER!" Even though it would almost certainly make his date more afraid of him. 2

Just then, the massive glass doors burst open. An equally massive figure held them open, arms spread. All were silent. I don't know how many people knew who this was—Steelheart, one of the most powerful Epics anyone in Chicago had ever seen. Then again, he was still new back then, and no one knew what Epics were really capable of. He took large, quiet steps forward, looking from face to face, daring them to meet his eyes. Heads dipped, eyes turned toward the floor. But he wasn't interested in any of those people. Just Deathpoint. Only Deathpoint. "Don't you know who I am?" he asked quietly. "Steelsomething or another, isn't it?" He was smirking. I still don't know how he could do that with the look Steelheart was giving him, but I suppose that's just what Epics do. Smirk in the face of disaster. "You don't know? I am the ruler of this city. This is the bank of an emperor." "Emperor? That's a good one." Steelheart took a step forward, lifting Deathpoint by his shirt collar. "This is the city of a god. This is the land of a divinity. This—" He tossed Deathpoint aside like a used Kleenex and tore his shirt, right down the middle. The largest six-pack I've ever seen glittered in the sunlight. "THIS IS THE SKIN OF A KILLER!" Everyone swore loyalty to Steelheart right then and there. You don't argue with a man who puts glitter on his abs before taking over a city. You just don't. 6

Yeah someone else mentioned it, I've studied enough US history that I probably stole it subconsciously Or who knows, maybe its really just foreshadowing and he's going to secede from the rest of the city and set up his own rule 1

I am not sure of that, it implies that we need more shirtless scenes. Not gonna lie, I'm kind of jealous. So Winter, given that the scene will cut anyway do you want to write an Red scene setting after it or does it just not really matter who goes next? 1

It seems that enjoying the suffering of (fictional) others is simply in the nature of our group... or maybe it is because bad stuff happening means something is happening and almost no good stuff is happening to our characters. 1
