Peng the Just he/him Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 There has been some specalation as to whether Szeth is physically bound to do as he is commanded or is just does so out of honor/religious obligation. I think that not only is he physically bound, his "oathstone" is a legendary dawnshard. The only evidence I have is this quote “Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind any creature voidish or mortal, he crawled up the steps crafted for Heralds, ten strides tall apiece, toward the grand temple above.” — From the Poem of Ista. I have found no modern explanation of what these "Dawnshards" are. They seem ignored by scholars, though talk of them was obviously prevalent among those recording the early mythologies But it seems to make sense. Your thoughts? 3
Scott Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Tanavast does say that Odium could be forced to choose a champion, and that the dawnshards were involved somehow, but I don't remember the full quote.
Glaring at the Survivor he/him Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) Was Tanavast the "idiot king"? The one that had Szeth's oathstone in the end? If so. I may be anle to provide some more evidence or something. Edited November 5, 2013 by Stroniax
Peng the Just he/him Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Taravangian is the king you're thinking of. Tanavast is the holder of the shard Honor. But if you have any evidence you think might be relevent, feel free to share it.
Glaring at the Survivor he/him Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) Well... In the chapter "CHILD OF TANAVAST" Szeth is mentioned seen (well, I assume it's Szeth - long thing Shardblade, Shin, white clothing)... Not the best evidence. Szeth is mentioned 2-3 paragraphs before Tanavast... Soon after he sees Szeth, the voice says this: "Child of Honor. Child of one long since departed." "The Ooathpact was shattered." Im still looking... Edited November 5, 2013 by Stroniax
